When I was about 12 years old, I really wanted a new bike! I _______ my parents my birthday wish, but I knew there was little hope because my family could _______ have that money.

On my birthday my parents told me they had my _______ outside in the back yard. At once I rushed out to the yard. There was my bike, _______ it wasn’t the bike that I thought it would be. This one was pink, old and worn with age. It was so _______! I thought I hurt my parents’ feelings because I could see the disappointment _______ their faces and I was sure they could see it on mine. I _______ the old bike and rode it, feeling bad that I had made my parents feel this way. So I put on a smile, rode as fast as I could and didn’t look back.

As time went by, I began to understand my parents gave me _______ much more than just a rusty(生锈的)old bike. They gave me a life lesson about love. When you give something out of love, it doesn’t matter what it is _______. What matters is the love that is in it. I like to remember this story because giving a gift is not about money. It’s about how much love you can feel from it. Do remember, a gift that ________ two dollars isn’t any less valuable than one that costs one hundred dollars, or even more.

We are already familiar with computers. They work for us at homes, in offices and in factories. We benefit(受益) a lot from the computers ,but at the same time, with the development of this high technology, it also caused a lot of trouble. One of them is the jobs’ problem.

Many people want to work, but it has become more difficult for people to find work in today’s work. Ma Yun’s unmanned supermarket appeared in 2017. It shows that more and more people will lose jobs even the simple job as a shop worker . The economy (经济) of the world needs to grow by 4% each year just to keep the old number of jobs for people. Often this is not possible, and so more people are out of work. Some people have no jobs now because new machines can do the work instead of many people in short time. Also, machines do not ask for more money and longer holiday. In all of the countries of the world, machines are taking work from people, not only in factories but also on the farms. One machine can often do the work as much as forty people. About 75,000 people are moving to the cities a day to look for jobs, but only 70% of them can find jobs.

As a volunteer teacher, I traveled a long way to a small village school in Longzhou, Guangxi. On my way there, I thought about the village, the school, and the children there. However, my heart sank when I arrived there. It was out of what I expected. It didn’t look like a school at all! The school had only three rooms, one for Grades 1, 2 and 3, and another one for Grades 4, 5 and 6. And the third one was for me.

The children welcomed me warmly on my first day. They asked me a lot of questions, and I told them stories about myself and my life in Shanghai. The next day, I gave them a test to find out their levels. To my surprise, though the test was very easy, over half of the students failed, yet they all wanted to learn new things. I knew they needed me.

I was busy preparing lessons and reading test papers every night. I enjoyed teaching these lovely and hard-working children, and I could see that they were making progress with my help. I have also learned a lot from them. I understand their life more, and we are now good friends.

I have worked in Longzhou for a year now. I’m very happy, and the experience has been very useful to me. I love the small village and the children. In fact, I would like to go on working here.
