While most teens are busy with sports, friends and online games, Robert Martinez is working to save the planet. He is one of the most famous environmental activists in the world. So how does a teenager do that?

“I grew up in a family where people were always thinking about the environment,” says Robert. When Robert was just 6 years old, he decided he had to do something about climate(气候)change — a serious environmental problem. Scientists have been studying climate change for many years. They know that Earth's climate changes on its own over time. But right now, it is changing more and more quickly than usual because of pollution created by people by the cars, trucks and planes we ride in, and by the coal and oil we burn for electricity.

His elder brothers and sisters ran an environmental group called Earth Guardians which was started by their mom. First he listened when they had meetings. Soon he was traveling around the country and the world. His goal? To educate and inspire people to join the fight against climate change.

Today Robert runs Earth Guardians. The group works with thousands of kids around the world. He speaks to students in classrooms about steps they can take to help the planet. And he writes and performs hip-hop songs about the environment. Robert believes that if many people change their habits, we can reduce the causes of climate change.

Have you ever heard that “Success is a journey, not a destination(终点)"? As a man aged 30, I believe it's true. It is, in fact, my law of life. In my eyes, what matters is not necessarily where you are in the end, but what you achieve while you are trying along the way. It means that no matter what it is, as long as you try, you can never fail. It means you can learn from your mistakes and continue on the next journey a little more wisely.

I think St. Louis Rams, a professional American football team in Missouri, as a whole shared my law of life. They played every game with their full potential(潜能)instead of letting a few winning games got to their heads. They had the goal of playing in every Super Bowl, a football game played in the US each year on the first Sunday in February. Even though they lost some games, they didn't give up.

It doesn't matter if you don't have the ability to be on top in the end, or to win the game. What matters is that you worked hard the whole time. You should understand that success is a non-ending journey. Everyone should realize that someone will win and someone will lose. But what's important is that both sides need to try their best. After all, it's not who wins or loses, but how well you play the game and you should remember this in your own life.
