Subject:A trip to Germany (德国) From: Elizabeth

Dear Arthur,

How are you? I haven't heard from you for some time. My grandparents and I visited Germany last month. It was a great trip. We visited a number of cities in Germany and saw many interesting things

In Berlin. we went to Zoo Berlin .It is home to the largest number of animals in Germany. I felt excited because this was the first time I saw the famous little polar bear (北极熊).Knut. It was born in December, 2012. It was the first polar bear born in the zoo in the past thirty years.

Little Knut is the newest star of the zoo. People from all over the world come to see it, Knut never feels lonely because its home is always crowded with people. We also saw some grizzly bears in the zoo. They are very large and they are brown. The grizzly bears looked cute too, but I liked Knut better.

Before we left the zoo, I bought a toy polar bear like Knut.It is very cute and beautiful. I am very happy because it is like we have brought a real Knut home!

We took a lot of photos in Germany. I have put a few in this e -mail .Enjoy!

Yours,

Elizabeth

My mother 1ived alone for 19 years after my father died.My work and my three children made me difficult to visit her .One night I called her for the evening meal.“What’s wrong?"she asked. She always thinks the call in the night is bad news.“I just want to spend some time with you,”I replied.

On Friday I drove to pick her up.When I arrived, she seemed to be as nervous as me.She washed hair and wore her best dress. After we got to a near restaurant,I read the menu. She was looking at me all the time.“I used to read the menu when you were small."

During the dinner,we had a happy conversation. We talked so much happily. When we went back home, she said,“I’ll go out with you again, but you must let me invite you."

A few days later,my mother died of a serious heart illness.I felt very sorry not to do anything for her. After some days,I received a letter with a menu from the same restaurant. The letter said,“I paid this meal.I wasn't sure I could be there.I paid for two plates-one for you and the other for your wife.I love you, son.”

National Smile Month is the largest and longest mouth health activity in the UK. Starting in 1977,it is celebrating its 42nd birthday from May 14 to June 14 this year.

The British are known for their bad teeth because they have too many sugary( 甜的) foods and drinks. It seems that most of them don’t often show their feelings. They neither smile nor cry.But this is NOT true. The British like to smile as much as anyone else. They just don’t want to show their bad teeth.

Brush your teeth at least twice a day, cut down sugary foods and drinks, and visit the dentist often. With the three messages, the organizers(组织者)hope that a month of smiling will make people all around the UK realize the importance of good teeth and be confident enough to open their mouths to smile.

One interesting activity is for the British to enjoy the fun photos with short stories behind. Seeing the smiling faces and reading the interesting stories, everyone can’t help smiling! You’re welcome to send yours with big smiles online.

Smiling is not only good for you but also good for those around you, even if you do have a few bad teeth. This makes National Smile Month a great idea!

I had a summer camp with my classmates last year. Early in the morning. We gathered at the bus station. After saying goodbye to our parents,we got on the buses. It took us more than two hours to arrive at the campground. We got off the buses cheerfully. Laughing and shouting. We jumped and ran all over the place. It was the first time for us to be away from the parents .Some of us started to feel homesick (想家). However, when the night party and dances began, the homesickness was gone. The next day, everybody rushed to the boating class, hoping to be at the head of the others. At first, my friends and I worked hard, but the boat wouldn't listen to us and kept going round and round. Then the teacher taught us how to work together. After many tries, we did much better. Swimming class was my favorite. It was about the hottest time of a day and the best time to stay in the cool water. The swimming teacher was a funny man, and during the class he often made us laugh happily. During the week I learned a lot of new things and made many new friends. I also learned how to take care of myself.
