Our country used to be very poor in technology, but great changes have taken place these years. Lots of our technology is much better than those of foreign countries. High-speed railway technology is one example.

We learned about high-speed railway technology from foreign countries, but now we have mastered(掌握)and developed the key technology. Our high-speed railway technology is advanced. It can not only have a high speed but also be used in different environment and the cost is lower.

China Railway Corp (CRC) is fully prepared to sell a full supply of high -speed railway technology. The company said selling of railway technology and building railways for other countries are going very well, and progress is being made in a number of countries. We have a major advantage. We are able to sell whole railway technology. It isn't very good to buy some technology from one country and other technology from another.

The selling plan for our high-speed railway technology will follow the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road (一带一路).

Old Dawson had the best apples in town, but kids knew they mustn't go into his yard to pick a delicious apple, even off the ground, because Dawson,a bad-tempered(坏脾气的)man,they said, would come after you with his gun.

One Friday,12-year-old Janet was going to stay all night with her friend Amy.They had to walk by Dawson's house on the way to Amy's house.Like most of the children,Janet was scared of the old man because of the stories she'd heard about him.

Amy said that Mr.Dawson wouldn't hurt anyone.Still,Janet was growing more nervous with each step closer to the old man's house. When they got close enough,Dawson looked up with his usual frown(皱眉),but when he saw it was Amy,a big smile changed his whole face as he said,“Hello,Miss Amy.I see you've got a little friend with you today.”

Amy smiled back and told him Janet was staying overnight and they were going to listen to music and play games.Dawson told them that sounded fun,and offered them each a fresh picked apple off his tree.

As they walked on,Janet asked Amy,“Everyone says he's the meanest man in town. Why was he so nice to us?”

Amy explained that when she first started walking past his house, he wasn't very friendly and she was afraid of him,but she always smiled at him.It took a while, but one day he half-smiled back at her.

After some more time,he started smiling real smiles and then started talking to her.Just a“hello” at first, then more. She said he always offers her an apple now,and is always very kind.

We're always trying to achieve so much, and it's so easy to get caught up in(被卷入;陷入)everyday life that we forget we can bring cheer to ourselves and others simply.Giving a smile takes so little effort;let's smile to others.

Nowadays, many children spend hours a day looking at computer screens or other digital(数码的) products. Some eye care doctors say all the screen time has caused more children to have what they call computer vision syndrome(视力综合症).

Nathan Warford is an optometrist(验光师) in the US. He says he has seen more children having eye problems. “More children come into my office because their parents have noticed that they have headaches or red eyes, or because their degree of short-sightedness(近视)appears to be increasing(增加) very fast and they’re worried,” he said.

Dr. Warford says part of the problem is that even if their eyes start to feel uncomfortable or they start to get a headache, some children don’t tell their parents, because they don’t want their games or the computer to be taken away. Another part of the problem is that people blink(眨眼睛) less often when they look at the screen. A person who uses a computer or a digital product blinks about a third as much as we normally(正常地) do in everyday life. If eyes can’t stay wet or are too tired, they will not be protected like normal.
