In June, 2013, I started my work at the animal shelter's Adoption(领养)Department. Over the years, more than 50, 000 animals have ______ the doors of the shelter(收容所). Sometimes there are ______ animals, who touch me so deeply that I could never forget them. Tabby was one such animal.

Tabby was an ancient Cooker Spaniel, probably 14 years old. What's more, she was blind and deaf. Tabby's chances of adoption seemed small. We all thought that Tabby would live out the rest of her life at the ______.

One day a woman named Loretta came to the shelter. Her son, Gary, was interested in Tabby! What could a young child possibly see in a 14-year-old dog who was both blind and deaf? Most boys would want a dog who could grow with them and ______ through grassy fields on summer days. Tabby would ______ be able to do that. But after meeting her, Loretta and Gary decided that she was the right dog for their family. They adopted Tabby!

If Tabby′s story simply ended with her ______ adoption, it would still have been something very special indeed. ______, it was what happened after her adoption that people might think to be "magic". Gary had seizures(癫痫).Since Gary and Tabby met, they have been friends. They became so "in tune" with one another that Tabby began to tell Gray's seizures ______ they appeared, giving his family a(n) ______ that one was about to strike. What's more, Gary seemed to be having fewer and fewer seizures since Tabby arrived.

How could it he? Nobody could explain ______ Tabby did it. But those of us who were lucky enough to know her family and witnessed the magic, know that it has its roots in love.

People often think of the North Pole and the South Pole as similar frozen wastelands. They are both places with very cold temperatures and few people live there. However, the North and South Poles are not much alike as people may imagine.

The North Pole has no land, only thick ice. Temperatures seldom go above 32 F, at which water turns into ice. Most of the time, it stays below zero. In winter temperatures are usually as low as -30 F.

Although conditions were very poor, people tried for many centuries to reach the North Pole. About 100 years ago, two men, Robert Peary and Mathew Henson, were able to get to this environment full of troubles and difficulties. They reached the North Pole on March 8th, 1909. It was really a hard trip for them.

There are few things more dangerous than crossing the Arctic(北极圈)on foot. People who stayed there may face many problems: very cold temperatures, sudden storms, and even hunger. Most of the area is uninhabited(无人居住的). Few people can live in such a difficult place.

People might think that with such low temperatures for most of the year, the ice would be thick and hard. However, this is not true in the Arctic. The movement of the ocean water under the ice may often cause many different changes on the surface. Sometimes the ice breaks into two opening lanes of water(水道)called "leads". Anyone who falls into a lead can be frozen to death in a few minutes.

I remember the green coat in my fifth and sixth grades.

When I needed a new jacket, my mother asked what kind I wanted. I described something like bikers wear. She listened long. I thought she understood for sure the kind I wanted.

The next day when I got home from school, I discovered on my bed, a jacket which was not what I had expected. I went close to the jacket slowly, as if it were a stranger.

From the kitchen mother shouted that my jacket was in the wardrobe(衣柜). I rushed and pulled at the clothes in the wardrobe, hoping the jacket on the bed wasn't for me but my brother. No luck, I wanted to cry because it was so ugly and so big. But I knew I'd have to wear it a long time before I'd have a new one. I looked at the jacket, like an enemy, thinking bad things before I took off my old and small jacket.

I put the big jacket on. I stood in front of the mirror(镜子), turning right and left. I looked ugly. I threw it on my brother's bed and looked at it for a long time before I put it on and went out, smiling a "thank you" to my mom.

The next day I wore it to school. At the morning break, my best friend, Steve, looked at me for a long time. The girls turned away to whisper. The teachers looked my way and talked about how foolish I looked in my new jacket. When it was time for the whole school to get together on the playground, ______. Although they didn't say out loud, "Man, that's ugly!" I heard their talk and even laughter.

And so I went, in my jacket. So embarrassed(尴尬的), so hurt, I couldn't even do my lessons the rest of the day. I received Cs on tests.

I wore that thing for three years. All in those years no love came to me.

I blamed(指责)that jacket for those bad years. I blamed my mother for her bad taste and her cheap ways. It was a sad time for the heart. Anyway, I spent my sixth-grade year, looking forward to something good to happen to me.

And it was about that time I began to grow, still in that green ugly jacket, which had become my brother who went along wherever I went.

Rome, Paris and New York are the world's top fashion cities, all of which have produced some of the top trends, form high-low skirts to the hottest new shoes. However, have you ever wondered the negative(消极的)ideas that they've brought

In April 2016, the Advertising Standard Authority(ASA) in Britain stopped an ad from Gucci that has models dancing around and having fun, because the models in the ad were all quite thin. (Gucci, a famous brand(品牌)in the fashion industry and the company in question, said, "It was a personal idea as to whether a model looked unhealthily thin." It isn't new to us. The ASA stopped an ad in the year 2015 for the same reason. In France, it has been ruled that models are to provide a doctor's note which could prove that they are at a healthy weight.

This brings up the question of weight, a hot topic for some people. What is the healthy weight for models? While I couldn't find an exact number, I did find this. According to ABC News, "Twenty years ago, the average(平均)fashion model weighed 8 percent less than the average woman. Today, she weighs 23 percent less." This is worrying. When has it ever been okay for anyone, models included, to weigh less than the average?

People may think that being at an unhealthy weight will help him have the advantages that the models do. This provides a standard of beauty, and therefore people who want to achieve those things may try to do this through unhealthy ways. People may also think that they are overweight, compared to the images(形象)of models' thin bodies. They see something wrong with their bodies, whether they are overweight or not. This may make people feel bad, unconfident about their bodies. Sometimes people may have eating problems.

I'm not blaming(指责)the fashion industry. It's not their fault(错误)that many people look up to the models and expect to live a life like their. I am glad that the ASA is raising its voices when discussing the growing problem of body image in the fashion industry. By stopping the photos and videos, speaking out against them and pushing for doctors' notes from the videos, it's pushing for the idea that the traditional fashion industry's body image standard should be changed and something more needy to be questioned.

A. Gucci has the right to choose models they like.

B. Gucci has lost a lot of money.

A. people don't know why models weigh less

B. many women are eating less to become thinner

C. weight problems of the models are more serious

D. being too thin causes health problems to models

A. The advantages of having a thin figure.

B. The bad influence of models' thin images.

C. The methods for having a good image.

D. People's thoughts towards models' images.

4.What's the possible purpose of the ASA′s measures(措施)?

A. To improve the working conditions models are traced with.

B. To set new standard of model's body image

C. To make people have a proper idea of body image.

D. To keep us the good tradition in the fashion industry.
