It’s true that most children don’t enjoy doing housework. They like playing computer games more than cleaning the rooms. But this is not true for two Australian boys, Tom and Robert. Their mother has a good idea to make them to housework happily: by picking up cards.
Every Saturday night, Robert shouts out “Mum, let Tom and me choose the cards for the housework next week. I can’t wait. It’s fun!” Then his mother puts all the cards on their big table. On the cards, there are some words like “clean your bedroom, make the bed, feed the fish, clean the bathroom” and many others. Tom and Robert choose two cards for each day from Monday to Friday. Tom likes cleaning the bathroom, so he picks up the card “clean the bathroom.” Robert loves making the bed, so he picks up that card. Tom again picks up “clean your bedroom” and Robert chooses “feed the fish.” Soon the two boys take away all the cards happily. But on weekends, the parents do the housework and give Tom and Robert two days to have a rest.
