【题目】

A woman was at the airport waiting for her flight to start boarding. She still had a lot of time, so she went to a shop and bought a book to read. While she was in the shop, she decided to buy a bag of cookies as well.

She arrived at her gate, sat down and started reading her book. She read her book so attentively that she didn’t notice what was going on around her. But she did see that a man had sat down next to her and taken one of her cookies out of the bag.

She pretended not to notice, as she didn’t want to make a scene (当众大吵). But then the man took more. He kept eating the cookies until there was just one left. The man took the last cookie and broke it in half. He tapped the woman on the shoulder and held out one half to her.

The woman could not believe how much nerve this man had to steal all of her cookies and then offer half a cookie in return. She angrily grabbed (夺取) the half-cookie out of his hand and ate it without any words.

Finally, it was time for her to board. As she went to the gate, she reached into her purse. Suddenly, she realized that her bag of cookies was still in her purse. The man had eaten his own cookies the whole time and simply wanted to share the last one with her. The woman’s face turned red with shame. Therefore, she quickly caught up with him and said, “ 93 .”

When we’re not paying attention to the world around us, it can be easy to misunderstand what’s happening or even become angry with others. It is better to keep our eyes open and think about every possibility when trying to understand a particular situation.

While walking outside one morning, I saw the most beautiful thing. It was early, and I was walking on dewy(带露水的)grass down to the office. Suddenly a flash came out straight from the ground, about 15 feet in front of me, and shot up into the sky. I stopped. What could make such a bright light? Could it be a diamond(钻石)?I waited to see if it would repeat, but it didn't.

I walked slowly toward it, but saw nothing. I looked down at the grass, searching for gold or some kind of metal - again, nothing. Suddenly, I saw it. The growth in skyscrapers (摩天大楼) worldwide, most of which have large glass panes, has led to a great need for window washers. Though the job, which earns workers as much as $35 an hour, can be lucrative, accidents are not uncommon. However, the dangerous chore may soon be done by Ozmo, an intelligent window cleaning robot, with humans supervising (监督) from the safety of the ground.

Much like humans, Ozmo, hanging off the sides of the building, uses its arms and brushes to clean the dirt and grime on the glass panes. A 3-D map of the building programmed into its system allows the robot to skillfully move up and down. Computer vision and touch sensors (传感器) enable it to move out of the way in case of unexpected events, such as the sudden opening of a window. And the robot will self-correct and move around it so as not to break a window.

Unlike other window washers, the robot cleaner does not require soap or Windex to clean the glass. Instead, it uses purified water (纯净水) and a process called reverse osmosis (反渗透) to do the job. It is environmentally friendly.

While it takes three cleaners 480 hours each to clean the windows of a 40-story glass building, the robot will single-handedly complete the task in just 80 hours. However, unlike other robots, Ozmo will not replace human workers, only making their jobs safer. Human workers will control the robot from below.

Whether Ozmo, which is still undergoing testing, docs as good a job as humans remains to be seen. * Past efforts to use a robot to do this dangerous job have not been successful, because the machines do not have the same eye as humans and often miss the soot (烟垢) collected on window corners.

1The underlined word “lucrative” in the passant’ probably means “________”

A.安全的B.危险的C.赚钱的

2The second paragraph mainly tells us

A.why Ozmo is much more intelligent than human workers

B.how Ozmo works to clean the glass smartly

C.what makes Ozmo an intelligent window cleaning robot

3What does Ozmo use to clean the glass?

A.Purified water.B.Soap.C.Grime or soot.

4To finish the task of cleaning the windows of a 40-story glass building, Ozmo spends ________ hours less than a cleaner.

A.560B.400C.1,360

5Which of the following is TRUE about Ozmo?

A.As an intelligent window cleaning robot. Ozmo is successful.

B.Ozmo does harm to the environment while cleaning the window.

C.Ozmo can make human window washers do their jobs safely.
