    One Sunday morning, I decided to buy a computer to use for school. I went to the biggest store in town,
which sold all kinds of computers. There were so many computers there that I didn't know how to choose
a right one. 
    "Hi! What can I do for you?" A young man greeted me with a sweet smile. He looked like not a salesman
but a student like me. I sensed a strange feeling-as if I had met him before. He began patiently showing me
each model. With his help, I decided to buy one computer with enough functions at a very low price. I
enjoyed this shopping experience because of his smile. A few months later, something was wrong with my
computer. I went back to the store to have it fixed. When I arrived there, what I saw first was still his smile.
As soon as I told him my problem, he comforted me immediately and tried his best to solve the problem for
me. I was quite grateful to him for his sweet smile and good service. 
    When I went back to school, his smile often appeared in my mind. I don't know whether we'll meet each
other again, but his sweet smile will stay there in my memory and deep in my heart. Smiling is the most

     On July 23rd, 1993, Wang Jiapeng lost his legs when his plane crashed. Wang was only 12 years old.
     "I felt I was the unluckiest person in the world," says Wang."When I saw students with their schoolbags
on their backs, the sound of my wheelchair made me sick."
     Wang's mother took him to a special hospital in Beijing. She looked after him in the daytime and worked
at night to make money. But after two years, Wang was still not able to leave the hospital. Wang's mother
became too tired to go on and one day she herself became a hospital patient!
     One morning she woke up and saw her son holding breakfast for her. Wang's trip to the food shop was
his first time outside the hospital in two years. The five-minute walk took him thirty minutes. But he was
finally able to make an important decision."I didn't care how other people looked at me," he says."I had to
learn to do things myself."
     For the next few years, Wang taught himself all his middle school subjects in the hospital and, five years
after the accident, he won a chance to study in a college in Norway. Wang learned to drive, go rock climbing
and ski. He even won two gold medals for skiing in an international skiing competition.

     On a very hot day, it is hard to know what to do to feel good. If you run around, you may feel sick in
your stomach. However, if you just sit quietly and do nothing, you may feel bored. Are there things you
can do to feel good and have fun when you're hot?
     Perhaps playing in water is a good choice to make you cool down. Taking a cool bath or shower, or

     The food you eat also makes a difference in how you feel in the heat. Cold foods such as ice cream and
drinks with some ice can cool down your bodies. Fruits and vegetables are also helpful to stay cool in hot

    On the first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone
we didn’t know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder(肩膀). “Hi, girl!
My name is Rose, I’m 87 years old.”
