How to save a life

  The students at No.19 Middle School were having a class. Suddenly, a curtain(窗帘)went on fire and the fire spread quickly. Some students were burned.

  Not really! This was a fire drill(消防演习)that took place in the school on April 28.After the drill, experts from the Red Cross gave a lesson to 400 students on how to deal with some injuries, such as burns and bleeding.

  May 8 is World Red Cross Day. Let’s learn the steps for how to save lives.

  When there is an accident, remember Dr. ABC.

  1).___66____ -Check the area to see that you are not putting yourself or the hurt person in any more danger. For example, check that there are no loose electric cables(松弛的电线)。

  2). ___67____-Call out to the hurt person or shake him or her to see if he or she is conscious(有意识的).

  3).___68____-If the hurt person is not responding, tip back his or her head and open the mouth. Remove anything that might be blocking the airway.

  4). ____69____– Put your ear to the person’s mouth to hear if he or she is breathing, and watch to see if his or her chest is rising and falling. If he or she is breathing, ensure that he or she is in a stable side position.

  5). Circulation (血液循环) – Feel and look at the person to try and judge if his or her circulation has stopped. If he or she is cold, or has turned pale or blue, it is likely that there is no circulation.
