题目内容

15.Do you think that living a hungry life is last century's story?Well,it may be this century's headline.
The world has growing worries about a global food shortage.Right now,there are still 870million hungry people in the world,according to a survey of the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization.Children can't escape this,either.Around fifteen million children die of hungry each year.
What's causing food shortages? There are several reasons.
There are now more droughts and floods.This is very harmful to farmers and their ability to grow food.
Besides,with the growing population,feeding everyone becomes more difficult.There are a little more than seven billion people in the world.By 2050,the world population will be more than nine billion.
Another reason is food waste.The average person throws away 50kg of food every year.
How can we help with food shortages? The easiest way is to cut down on food waste.
Next time before throwing away the food on your plate,just think how much work has been done to make it.By buying less,we waste less.This takes the pressure off producing so much food.And it helps to solve the problem of food shortage.
You can also ask your schoolmates to join you.
In 2013,researchers at Kansas State University in the US put up short anti-waste slogans(标语) in dining rooms"Think Before You Waste".Guess what happened?Students wasted fifteen percent less food after that!
The author of the study said,"You don't need a huge activity to make a difference."
Reasons of food shortage(56)More droughts and floods
The growing population.
(57)Food waste
Ways of(58)helping with food shortage(59)Cut down on food waste
Ask the other students to join in your anti-waste work.

There are now more droughts and floods. This is very harmful to farmers and their ability to grow food.可知,食物短缺的原因之一是旱灾和涝灾.这对农作物是有害的.所以这里填More droughts and floods;另一个原因已经列在下面了:人口不断增长.

3.Teenagers are going to have lessons on how to sleep.Materials to teach teenagers how to get enough sleep will be offered to schools across Scotland.The teaching created the charity Sleep Scotland is used to be part of curriculum (课程).It aims to help people realize the importance of sleep for young people's physical and emotional health (身心健康).
The charity said watching TV and using computers and mobile phones at night can prevent teenagers getting the nine hours of sleep they need.Sleep Scotland,which also offers a sleep advising service,said getting enough sleep can improve grades and physical health.However,less sleep can be connected to being heavy and a greater risk of feeling upset and hopeless.
Jane Ansell, leader of Sleep Scotland, said,"I don't think any parent would think of sending out their child without enough food in the morning,or beautiful clothing, and they know how important exercise is,so why should you send your child out without enough sleep?"
The charity hopes to educate young people about why they need a full night's sleep and how to develop good sleeping habits.Kate Pearce,a teacher of guidance,said,"We see it more often at third year onwards.Pupils find it very difficult to get up in the morning and pay attention to their study.Sleep is most surely a problem."
Research shows that sleep time for teenagers around the world has decreased over the past 10to 20years.A report by the charity said young people often believed they could make up for (弥补) sleep time during the week by sleeping late at weekends.However,by going to bed even later at weekends they were actually forcing a change in their body clocks,which would influence their study on Monday mornings.
