Lauri Berner grew up in the mountains in Germany, “I remember as a child looking up into the sky and watching eagles fly over the valley where I lived,” she says. “That's when I first decided that I'd love to leap into the air and feel the wind lift me off my feet.”

Laura had her first paragliding(滑翔伞) lesson when she was sixteen, and fell in love with the sport. “You run down a mountain slope, the wind catches your wing, and then you're flying like a bird. It feels fantastic. The views of the mountains from up there are stunning.”

Laura's husband Martin had never tried paragliding, but he was crazy about skiing. It seemed like a good idea for them to try each other's hobbies. He taught her how to ski and she showed him how to paraglide. When each of them had learned how to do the other sport well, they decided to combine(结合) them and try paraskiing. “It's like paragliding, but you're wearing skis,” says Martin. “When you land, you have to start skiing. immediately, or you fall over in the snow. You have to be a good skier.”

In the past, Laura mostly did her hobby in the summer and Martin could only do his in the winter. Now they spend every winter weekend gliding over the valleys together, then skiing down the slopes of a snow-covered mountain.
