A university student in Britain is raising money for a homeless man who offered her his last£3 so she could get home safely after a night out.

Dominique Harrison-Bentzen is a 22-year-old university student. She lost her bank card after a night out. “I didn’t realize that I had no money until I wanted to get money for a taxi. Just then a homeless man came and gave me his only money,£3,” she said. “He told me to take it to pay for a taxi to make sure I got home safely.” She didn’t take the money in the end but was so moved by the man’s kindness that she made a decision to help him.

“I posted a picture on Facebook (一社交网站) to try and find him the next day. To my surprise, I found that I was not the only person he had helped,” she said. “Robbie seems to have helped many persons in the city center, returning bags to people and offering his scarf to keep people warm.”

Miss Harrison-Bentzen started raising money to help him get an apartment so that he can be safe and warm. At first, Miss Harrison-Bentzen hoped to raise £500 to help Robbie get off the streets. Now £12,500 has already been collected for the man.

Miss Harrison-Bentzen has also decided to spend 24 hours through the day and night as a homeless person to understand the difficulties that the homeless people face each day. “If people can see what I am doing, then maybe they can take the time to stop and talk to a homeless person, and hear his story,” she said.
