  It was in August 1999 that I decided to come to China to work as a language teacher.

What was the highlight *of the May Day? It was Hangzhou Bay Bridge*, which opened on that day.       

It is 36 kilometers long and the world’s longest cross- sea bridge. It begins at Jiaxing, crosses the East China Sea, and end at Cixi, about 70 kilometers from Ningbo. It will reduce* the driving time between Shanghai and Ningbo by about two hours.

A great number of the workers started to build it on November 2003, and ended in June 2007. Now the bridge has become famous. About 40,000 vehicles *can cross the bridge each day at first.
