I Don't Mind It

Mr. Johnson worked in a hospital. Three years ago, when he was sixty-eight, he retired (退休). But a lot of people come to ask him to look them over. He's very busy in the daytime and he wants to have a good rest at night.

Half a year ago a young man moved into the room upstairs. At first he was quiet. The old man was satisfied with (对……满意) him. But now he has several friends. They often came to see him in the evening. They talked loudly, sang and danced. Mr. Johnson was unhappy, but he didn't say anything.

It was the young man's birthday yesterday. All his friends came at seven in the evening. They drank too much and made a lot of noise. The old man couldn't fall asleep the whole night. This morning, as soon as he got up, he went upstairs and began to knock at the door. The young man opened for him and asked him to go in.

“Did you hear me beat the ceiling (天花板) last night, young man?”asked Mr. Johnson.

Don't open the door to strangers
It was Sunday afternoon. My brother and I were at home. My parents had gone to a party and asked me to look after my brother. Suddenly the doorbell rang. Ding-dong! My brother thought that it was our parents, so he opened the door quickly.
A tall man wearing a black raincoat stood outside. He asked if we would like to buy some storybooks. I said no. when I wanted to close the door, he suddenly pushed the door very hard and came into our house. He took out a knife and asked me to tie up (捆起来 ) my brother’s hands with a rope. I tied up his hands in a special way so my brother could unite (解开) himself easily. The man then tied my hands and locked both of us in the kitchen.
Then, he went to look for money. I taught my brother to untie the rope. He then untie me. We got out of the house through the kitchen window and went to the nearest pay phone to call the police. Soon the police came and took the man away.
My parents were glad we were not hurt. They told us that we should not open the door to strangers.
I learned a lesson about safety.
