An earthquake hit Wenchuan in Sichuan Province on May 12, 2008. Thousands of houses fell down. More than 40,000 people lost their lives in the earthquake. Large numbers of people became homeless. Many people were badly hurt. Lots of children lost their parents for ever. So they are in great need of food , medicine and so on.
Last week, our school held a fund-raising activity to help the people in disaster areas. Lots of teachers and students donated money generously. We raised over 30,000 yuan. Also, many of us donated clothing, food and other materials.
We believe if everyone tries his or her best to help the people in need , we will have a better world.
