Fights at school sometimes happen. But how can you keep away from a fight? Here's something you can do.

Be calm (冷静). Sometimes, you feel so angry that you really want to teach somebody a lesson. But being angry can't solve problems. Neither can a fight. Instead, it may bring you more problems. In the school, everyone involved (卷入) in a fight will be punished, no matter who started it. There are no winners in a fight.

Shout loudly. If you know someone is coming up behind you to attack, turn toward the person with your hands up in front of your body and loudly say "stop" before walking away. Loud voice can usually make the attacker calm down. If the person doesn't stop, cry for help by calling out the name of a teacher whose office is nearby.

__▲__ Your friend may ask you to join in a fight. Learn to say no. Helping him fight is not really helpful to him. If you really want to give him a hand, try to ask him to give it up. Also, you can tell him if he gets involved in a fight, he may get hurt and be punished. Then, try to learn why he wants a fight and help him find a right way to deal with the problem.

Water is the most important in our lives. Not many people understand this but it’s quite true. The human body can go without food for a long time. We’ve got many examples for this. Yet two or three days without water can usually make people die. Man can’t live without water.

Many people don’t understand how much water the human body needs to work well, and many people, especially young people, do not drink enough water, even in very hot weather. About two thirds of our body is water. When we do sports, some of the water will get away from our body. If we don’t drink some water, our body won’t have enough water. And if we don’t drink some water, we’ll feel tired and many of us will get ill. So you know how important water is to us.

But at present we face water crisis(危机). Water is becoming less and less. So, we should protect water resources(资源) and try our best to save water in our daily life. Here are some tips for saving water: 1.Turn off the tap in time. 2. Take shorter showers. 3. Don’t let water run while washing your face and reuse the water after we finish washing. 4. Encourage your friends and neighbours to join in the action of saving water.

“The grass looks greener on the other side of the fence (篱笆).”That’s an old saying in English. It means other places often look better, more interesting than the place where you live. Some people worry that young Chinese are beginning to feel that way. They see young Chinese ignoring (忽视) Chinese culture and instead, buying Japanese cartoon books, watching Korean soap operas and even celebrating Western holidays.

Foreign books and soap operas are good, but Chinese writers and actors are just as good. As for holidays, Christmas is nice, but it can never have the meaning for Chinese that Spring Festival has, and the West has nothing to compare with (与…相比) Mid-Autumn Festival. And let’s not forget the part of Chinese culture I like best: its friendliness. Not all countries are as warm as China.

It’s good to enjoy other cultures and to learn from them, but they cannot replace (取代) your own culture. It’s good to look on the other side of the fence, but make sure you take a good long look. You will find that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence.
