Little Tom likes cartoons very much .When the cartoons begin on TV, he does nothing until they’ re over. Sometimes he’d rather wait for a long time and go to bed late. In the morning his mother has to wake him up, or he will be late for school.
Yesterday Tom heard there would be an interesting cartoon today. This morning, as soon as he got up, he turned the television, but didn’t receive the programme. He had to have breakfast and then went to school. After school he ran home while his mother was cooking supper in the kitchen (厨房). He hurried to the sitting room and turned on the television again, but he couldn’t find the cartoon. He rushed into the kitchen and asked his mother to help.
“It’s only five now,” said the woman. “Your programme will be after supper.”
“Well, let’s have supper right now!”

Is it difficult for you to get up in the morning ?  Hiroyuki’s bed will solve your problem ! Here is how it works .

The bed is connected to an alarm clock . First , the alarm clock rings . You have a few minutes to wake up . Next , a tape recorder in the bed plays soft music . The tape recorder in Hiroyuki’s bed plays a recording of his girlfriend . She whispered in a soft voice , “Wake up , darling , please .”  After minutes later , Hiroyuki hears a recording of his boss . His boss shouts , “Wake up at once , or you’ll be late !”

If you don’t get up after the second recording , a mechanical “foot” in the bed will kick you in the head . The bed waits a few more minutes . What ! You’re still in bed ! Slowly the top of the bed rises higher and higher . The foot of the bed goes lower and lower . Finally you slide off the bed and onto the floor . You are out of bed awake !

Hiroyuki’s bed is not in stores . There is only one bed--- the bed Hiroyuki made for a contest(竞赛). Maybe someday a company will make Hiroyuki’s bed and sell it in stores . Maybe people will buy millions of beds . Then Hiroyuki will be rich . If the bed makes Hiroyuki rich , he won’t need to work , and he won’t need to get up early !

Dear Annie,

I have never written a letter to a newspaper before, I have just never felt the need to do such a thing. I have always felt I was quite able to do everything by myself. But now I know I was wrong.

Sometimes you really need help in life, I guess. And that’s why I’m writing this letter to you.

I have a happy family. I love my children and they love me . I’m a mother of three children. I know well how to bring up (带大)children, and two of them are already over twenty, so it is nothing new for me.

But now I have a serious problem:the Internet problem. My little son is just sixteen, and I feel he should do a lot of homework now , but he doesn’t seem to be interested in it . He can happily spend six or eight hours at a time on the Tnternet every day , He chats with pelple that he has never met before , but speaks little to us .He does lots of useless things on the Internet. And he sees red if you ask him to do his homework.

I just want him to be a good student . Now he seldomdoes his lessons at home. I’m afraid he will drop behind in his class soon. His father is a doctor , a very kind man . He never seems to be afraid of his father.

What can I do ?And don’t tell to talk to him. We’ve tried that and it didn’t work. But this is really a big problem in our family. I have tried everything I can think of . I

wonder how the Internet is so attractive(有吸引力的).You’re my last hope. Please tell me what I can do!

Yours,

Ellen Smith
