Mr White began to work in a middle school when he was twenty-three. He has worked there for forty years. At the beginning he taught his students English. He worked hard and was strict in everything. And he took good care of others and all the other teachers and his students liked him very much. Twelve years ago he was appointed(被任命)as headmaster and he worked even harder.
Forty years ago there were fifteen classes and nearly five hundred students and forty-seven teachers in the school. But now there're one thousand two hundred students and one hundred and twenty teachers. Mr White thinks it necessary(必要) for the teachers to remember all their students' names.
At a meeting, Mr White recognized(认出) one of his students, “Your name is Fred Smith,”the headmaster said happily.“You were in Grade Six in 1981, weren't you?”
“Yes, Mr White,”answered Mr Smith.“You taught me English fifteen years ago.”All the people were surprised at the old man's memory and he was much happier.
“Where are you working now, young man?”“I have taught in your school for five years, Mr White,”answered the young man.
