Dear Mr Lambert,

I’m Sabrina Taylor and I’m studying at a middle school. I just learnt that forests are disappearing(消失),and they’re disappearing around the world every year. This happens because people are making paper and energy, building more and more houses and factories. We must stop doing these things. It’s important for us to protect the Earth for our future.

Now I hope you can help stop forests from disappearing. You may stop burning wood to make energy in your factory. This will help forests so much.

There are also many other things to do to help forests. If you would like to know more, please visit www.rainforeststweb.org. By doing some small things, we can make the Earth more beautiful. If you want to talk about it with me, you can email me at shazadinol@hotmail.com.uk.

Thank you for taking your time in reading this email.

Best wishes,

Sabrina Taylor

The Bund is a 1.6-kilometer-long bank along the bank of the Huangpu River. It begins at Yan’an Road in the south and ends at Waibaidu Bridge in the north. Before the 1840s, the Bund was a small road with tall grass. After the first British company (公司) opened an office at the Bund, people started to build houses there. Now if you walk along the Bund, you will see many old buildings. The Pudong New Area, just across the Huangpu River, has many modem buildings. At night, these tall buildings light up the sky.

The Great Wall is more than 13,000 miles long. People began to build it over 2,000 years ago, and later people went on building it for hundreds of years. At that time, the Great Wall was used to keep outsiders (外来者) out. But today the Great Wall is one of the famous places of interest in China. Thousands of visitors go to China every year to visit the wall. Chinese people visit and climb the wall too. It is a great cultural treasure (宝藏) in the world.
