My friend John was a poor student. But last year he went to Japan and stayed there for six months. I didn't know how he was able to stay there so long.

“It was very easy,”John said.“I got a job in Japan. I gave English lessons to a shopkeeper. We became good friends.”

“How great you are! Why does he want to learn English?”I asked.

“Every day a lot of American people came to his shop to buy things so he wanted to learn English very much.
