Glad you're having a great vacation. I was in the Summer Palace in Beijing on Saturday. I was there for a flower show. It was amazing! And there were lots of people. But on Sunday it was rainy and I wasn't very well. I stayed in bed for a whole day.

I wasn't at home over the weekend. On Saturday I was in Scotland for a trip. It was a lovely, warm day and I had a picnic with friends. It was great! Sunday was boring. It took me five hours to get back home. It was a long journey.

Do you believe that you aren't smarter than 3— year— old Alexis Martin, one of the youngest members of the high IQ club Mensa?

Preschooler (学龄前的) Alexis' IQ is 159, which is only one point lower than Stephen Hawking's. Doctors say the average IQ of a person is about 100.

She learned to read at the age of 2. She reads at a fifth grade level and has taught herself Spanish (西班牙语) on her parents' iPad!

Now, she is a member of the Mensa Club, which only accepts people with an IQ within the top 2% of people in the world!

Alexis' father, Ian Martin, said he first realized Alexis was special when she was 12 months old. She could recite (背诵) bedtime stories. “We'd be driving around in the car and she would recite her bedtime stories from the night before. She didn't just recite them, and she recited them exactly.”

Alexis' father would try to trick her and say that her story went a different way, but she always corrected him.

Most 12— month— old children just take their first steps on their own and most 18— month— olds can only name a small number of objects and body parts, and follow simple two— step questions.

Even though Alexis is a genius (天才),her parents are faced with lots of challenges like how to teach her to make friends of her own age.

“Will she go into kindergarten early? We are kind of hesitant (迟疑的) because we do want her to get to that social world, ” Ian said.

Today, people want to be healthy by doing sports and exercise. But some of them have some wrong(错的) ideas about it.

“A plate of chicken is a good meal before games because it has much energy(能量).”

In fact(事实上), the best meal before games should have carbohydrates(碳水化合物). Food like potatoes, bread, bananas are rich(丰富) in it, but chicken and meat are not.

“The best time to exercise is early in the morning.”

Morning is a good time to exercise, but it may not be good for you. If afternoon or evening is OK for you, and you enjoy the feeling of getting healthier, you can choose(选择) any time to exercise. So there is no fixed time for you to exercise.

“If you drink water when you exercise, you’ll feel tired.”

You must have some water during breaks(在休息期间) when you exercise. And after exercising, you must have enough water. If you don’t drink enough water, then you may feel tired.

“Exercising every day is quite important.”

Wrong. Too much exercise is bad for our health. You have to give your body a day of rest.
