题目内容

A ban on smoking in most public places goes into effect(效果) on Sunday in China - home to a third of the world's smokers. That means around 300 million smokers will no longer be allowed to light their cigarettes in the "enclosed public places." These include hotels, restaurants, theaters and public transport waiting rooms. The ban does not cover offices or factories.

The campaign is aimed at controlling(控制) the number of deaths from smoking-related illnesses, running at a million a year. According to the World Health Organization, more than 3,000 people die every day in China because of smoking. Health experts also hope it will help Chinese to raise the knowledge of the dangers of smoking.

But the new rules have been criticized because they do not include punishments(处罚) for those who choose not to obey them. Most people worry that Chinese smoking ban may have little effect.

Business owners often hate rules that force(强迫) them to ban smoking on their restaurants, bar, cafe..., because many customers(顾客) do not like the rules and complain. Often you find people smoking at the next table while you are eating your meal or having a drink in a bar.

It appears that many Chinese people don’t know the dangers of smoking. Research suggests only one in four knows the harm(害处) cigarettes or second-hand smoke can cause.

At the same time the government makes a lot of money from the sales of cigarettes by the state-owned firms that make and sell all tobacco products throughout the country.

Many people would like to watch sport matches. First, you need to know about audience manners.
Most sporting arenas(竞技场) have rules for audience written on the back of the tickets. Read your ticket carefully before you arrive. Try to reach your seat half an hour before the start of the event and don’t leave when a game is in progress. When you leave, remember to take away your soft drink bottle and other rubbish.
During exciting games, try to control yourself. Don’t criticize(批评)the performance of players and coaches. Be careful with your words, since some may cause anger among other people in the audience
Applause(鼓掌)is a special form of body language you can use to communicate with players, but you should do it properly. When players first appear, clap your hands together to welcome them, but don’t go on for too long. After an excellent performance, applaud warmly. If someone fails, your applause will help encourage them.
Applause is not welcome, however, while players need to keep their concentration. Various sports have various rules for the audience.
Enjoy artistic gymnastics silently. But lots of cheering can really help basketball and football players. Snooker and table tennis courtside behavior includes a ban on flash photography. Mobile phones are not allowed in shooting centers.
To be good audience, you should spend time learning the specific(明确的) rules and the culture of each event.

To Protect the environment, China has put a ban on thin plastic bag (plastic bag thinner than 0.025mm) From June 1, 2008. China stopped the production, sale and use of these plastic bags to the public.

Plastic bags can cause “white pollution”, because they can take 400-1000 years to break down. They pollute the soil and water. Plastic bags also cause a serious danger to animals. Animals often mistake plastic bags for food. Thousands of them die each year after eating plastic bags.

So what kind of bags will be the best to use when we are shopping? Recently some students made their own shopping bags. Most students used old clothes to make their bags. They painted pictures like the Olympic rings on them. But Li Lei had a more traditional way to make her bag. She weaved(编织) a bamboo basket . It was not an easy job. With her grandfather’s help, Li Lei spent the whole afternoon making it .What can we do? Refuse plastic bags and persuade people to use environmentally shopping bags instead of plastic ones. Try to recycle the one we have .
