  Mr William Thompson was very deaf(聋的) but he did not like people to know this. One evening he asked some friends to dinner, and when they were sitting at the table, one of the friends told an interesting story. Everyone laughed, and Mr William, who laughed as loud as anyone else, said, “That is a very interesting joke(笑话). I know a more interesting one.
