Ever since 1 was little, my favourite season was winter.I loved to play in the snow and enjoyed the hot chocolate.
1 , winter never gave me the special gift of snow on my birthday.I would ask my grandmother 2 it didn't snow on my birthday. She would laugh and tell me I asked too many questions. 3 one day, she promised that she would make it snow on my next birthday.
That year, 4 my birthday, my grandmother died.I was sad but angry because she had promised to make it snow. The day of my sixth birthday, I woke up and ran to the window, hoping to see just one snowflake(雪花).But there was no 5 .I felt mad at my grandmother. She had broken a promise.
By my sixteenth birthday, I 6 all hope of getting my snow, even though I still wished for it.
During my party, I stayed with my friends and family and was truly 7 .I 18 the best time ever! Then I saw the white snow 9 down all around.I was so excited that I ran around screaming and laughing. My friends all laughed 10 me, but I didn't care.
When I 11 home, my grandpa said he had a gift for me.I was 12 because he had given me a gift.It was a small white box, which looked old.I opened it.There was a crystal snowflake(冰晶雪花)with a card that 13 , “Happy Birthday.”
How could this be? My grandpa said it was my grandmother's final 14 on my “sweet sixteenth”.I cried.
I was 15 that my smiling grandmother angel was and had been watching over me.
One day in September we were doing some repairing on my parents' old house to get it ready for my youngest daughter's wedding. We had to 1 a great climbing plant that had grown 2 a roof beam(房梁), so that we could repair the roof and 3 the walls.
When my husband was taking the plant away, he found a nest(鸟巢)of a blackbird that had made its home in the leaves. He then 4 something 5 among that mass of earth and straw(稻草)of the nest.He broke the earth around it into pieces with his finger tips and, to his 6 , saw glittering(闪闪发光)gold. It was a child's bracelet(手镯).He ran into the house to show me.
“You won't believe that the blackbirds not only steal the best fruit we 7 to feed on,”he said,“but they also want their children to 8 in a cradle(摇篮)of gold!”
When my daughter came over on the eve of the 9 , we told her about this 10 thing.
“Don't you remember, Mother?”she said with a loud laugh.“When I was eight, you gave me a bracelet that I 11 a few days later while out playing in the yard?It was this one!”
As the bracelet no longer 12 its owner and was dirty, I decided to take it into my safekeeping(保管箱).
In December of the following year, the young couple's baby son was baptized(受洗礼).Among the 13 the newborn baby received, I placed his mother's bracelet, now shining like 14 .I hope that if my grandson ever loses it, one of the 15 that live in my backyard is somewhere nearby.
