Every morning, the newspaper chief editor (主编) holds a meeting with the reporters. They discuss the main events of the day. 1.

As soon as the reporters know what to write about, they get down to work. They telephone people and fix a time for a face-to-face interview with them. 2.

Checking information is very important. They go to the newspaper’s own library to look up any information that they need. At the same time, the picture editor decides which photographs will be used.

3. Reporters have to stop working on one story and start working at once on the important new one. They must find out the new information as quickly as possible. Later in the day, everything is put together at the news desk. Reporters return, type their stories into the computer and hand them to the editor.

The chief editor decides which will be the most important story on the front page. 4. Other editors read the stories which the reporters have written and make any necessary changes.

Finally, there is no more time left for adding new stories, and the time for printing the newspaper has come. This is done on fast-moving printing machines. The newspapers are then delivered (发送) by truck, plane or rail. Speed is important. 5.

A. Sometimes this will have to be changed if something more important happens late in the day.

B. All the people who work on a newspaper must be able to work fast.

C. People want to buy the latest newspaper; nobody wants to buy yesterday’s.

D. Sometimes they do telephone interviews.

E. Reporters are then sent to cover the events.

Is an earthquake dangerous? Yes, of course. But this doesn't mean you can't do anything about it. If you know what to do in an earthquake, you can be safe.

Keep a cool head. Worry may cause (引起) bad decisions. Don' t follow others blindly(盲目地). Think about what you should do. The first several minutes are important.

When you are indoors during an earthquake, quickly move to a safe place in the room such as under a desk or table. Take care of your head. Stay away from windows.

When you are in a busy room and far away from the door, don't rush to it. You will find too many people trying to escape at the same time. Instead, stay under a desk or table.

Don't use an elevator. You may not get out of it.

Stay in a safe place until you are sure it's OK to leave. Some aftershocks (余震) may follow an earthquake. These are as dangerous as the earthquake.

If you are in debris(废墟), try to free your hands and legs. You may make much noise by hitting (打击) stones. Shouting will make you tired. Try to find some water and food. They are important for you if you aren't found in a short time. Wait patiently for help.

Do you like taking photos when you travel to a new place? Photos are a good way to keep your beautiful memories of a certain place. But you can't simply take photos everywhere.

Many people take photos in theaters, but this is actually not a good thing to do. The copyright(版权)of the shows needs to be protected. And taking photos during a show may also trouble others.

In museums, if there are“No Photos”signs, you should keep your camera off. Even if there are no such signs and you really want to take photos, at least turn off the camera’s flash. The flash can be bad for the antiques(古董).

If you are going to travel abroad, remember not to take any photos at custom. In many countries you will face heavy punishment if you do it.

Also, when you are visiting a church(教堂), it’s very impolite to take photos. If you are a fan of street snapping, be careful. Not everyone likes a stranger taking photos of them. Before taking a photo, ask him or her for permission.

Taking photos is not a bad thing, but you don't want to get yourself in trouble by doing it in the wrong place.
