Here are two amazing shops from the world.
One of the most famous department stores in New York City is Macy's.There are over 850 Macy's stores all over the US, but the flagship store is in Herald Square,Manhattan---just around the corner from the Empire State Building. Interestingly, Rowland Macy, the company founder ( 创始人 ), opened his first shops between 1843 and 1855, but they weren't successful. However, Macy learned from his mistakes, and in 1858 he moved to New York. He opened his first New York store on October 18, 1858 and was immediately successful. Macy's is especially famous for its Thanksgiving Day Parade, which marks the beginning of the Christmas season.
One of the oldest shops in London is Fortnum & Mason.
It was founded by William Fortnum and Hugh Mason in
1707 in central London. Originally, the shop only sold food, but these days, it sells all kinds of other things including clothes, books and games. It has the "Gentleman's Department" on the top floor, a famous tea shop and several restaurants. The business started out small, but in 1761, William Fortnum’s grandson, Charles, went to work for Queen Charlotte. As a result, the royals ( 皇家 ) started shopping there and continues to now. In fact, Queen Elizabeth visited Fortnum's last year. Fortnum's is really famous for its hampers, which are baskets of food. There are picnic hampers and Christmas hampers that are full of wines and Christmas food. They are extremely popular, but also expensive and can cost up to £25.000.

In Britain you may often hear “Drop in any time.” or “Come to see me soon”, but you can’t really do that. People just say those things to make you feel welcome. It is better to telephone before visiting someone at home. If you receive a written invitation to an event that says “RSVP”, you should reply to let the person who sent the invitation know whether or not you plan to go.
You should never accept an invitation unless you really plan to go. You may refuse by saying, “Thank you for inviting me, but I will not be able to come.” If, after accepting, you are unable to go, be sure to tell those who are expecting you as soon as possible that you will not be there. Although it is not necessarily expected that you give a gift to your host, it is considered polite to do so, especially if you have been invited for a meal. Flowers, chocolate, or a small gift are all appropriate(合适的). A thank-you note or telephone call after the visit is also considered polite and is an appropriate way to express your appreciation for the invitation.

America is a mobile society. Friendships between Americans can be close and real, yet disappear soon if situations change. Neither side feels hurt by this. Both may exchange Christmas greetings for a year or two, perhaps a few letters for a while - then no more. If the same two people meet again by chance, even years later, they pick up the friendship. This can be quite difficult for us Chinese to understand, because friendships between us flower more slowly but then may become lifelong feelings, extending(延伸)sometimes deeply into both families.
Americans are ready to receive us foreigners at their homes, share their holidays, and their home life. They will enjoy welcoming us and be pleased if we accept their hospitality(好客) easily.
Another difficult point for us Chinese to understand Americans is that although they include us warmly in their personal everyday lives, they don't show their politeness to us if it requires a great deal of time. This is usually the opposite of the practice in our country where we may be generous with our time. Sometimes, we, as hosts, will appear at airports even in the middle of the night to meet a friend. We may take days off to act as guides to our foreign friends. The Americans, however, express their welcome usually at homes, but truly cannot manage the time to do a great deal with a visitor outside their daily routine(事务). They will be likely to expect us to get ourselves from the airport to our own hotel by bus. And they expect that we will phone them from there. Once we arrive at their homes, the welcome will be full, warm and real. We will find ourselves treated hospitably.
For the Americans, it is often considered more friendly to invite a friend to their homes than to go to restaurants, except for purely business matters. So accept their hospitality at home!

Xiao Jing, a Beijing girl took home a cup of iced tea for her father after having supper at McDonald’s. But when the father happily started to drink his daughter’s gift, he found that there was a filter tip (过滤嘴) inside it. Xiao Jing and her father got very angry.
This is not the first time that McDonald’s has let Chinese customers down. According to a CCTV program on World Consumer Rights Day(消费者权益保护日) on March 15, a McDonald’s restaurant in Beijing sold chicken wings 90 minutes after they were cooked. The company’s rules set a 30-minutes limit. What’s more, some workers changed desserts’ expiration dates (保质期) or even put them into a new bag or box to sell them again.
McDonald’s China released a letter of apology on their official micro blog (微博) soon after the program. “McDonald’s China pays great attention to this. We will immediately look into this accident, deal with it seriously and take practical actions to apologize (道歉) to consumers. We’ll try our best to provide healthy and safe food,” the letter said.
