At present, more and more people are crazy about travelling. Why do people travel?  “To see more of the world.” many people would say. But travelling abroad now means much more than that for the growing number of Chinese tourists. Of course it offers us good opportunities to meet people from other countries, learn about their culture and customs.
According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), more than 1 billion people travelled to another country in 2012. In 2012, Chinese people travelled abroad 30 percent more than in 2011. The prosperity (繁荣) of the tourism industry can also bring both our country and foreign countries great economic benefits (经济利益). Chinese people usually travel abroad in large tourist groups and visit several countries in one trip.
Chinese people don’t just travel for sightseeing. The China International Travel Service Company said that all their tour trips sold out a month before Christmas Day. Stores offered discounts (打折) during that time, so shopping in Europe and the United States is popular among Chinese travelers.
In December, China is going through a very cold winter. So many people like to go to some countries in Southeast Asia because the weather there is quite pleasant.
The improvement of living standards means more Chinese can travel abroad. But many of them don’t have a sense of public manners. A report by Living Social website in March 2012 even listed Chinese as the world’s second worst tourists.
If you want to change that bad name, remember to avoid the following: littering, spitting, snatching bus seats, line-jumping, taking off shoes in public, talking loudly and smoking in non-smoking areas. Besides, we should learn some necessary manners of foreign countries.

“Tom? Are you in bed yet?” called Mrs. White. There was no answer. Mrs. White put down her book and went to her 14-year-old son’s room. Tom was sitting in front of a bright computer screen on which a motorbike was running fast.
“Oh, Tom. You’re still playing on that computer game. You must stop now, because it’s half past eleven. If you don’t go to bed soon, you’ll be very tired tomorrow.” Said Mrs. White.
“But I’ve nearly won the game.” Tom said to Mrs. White. She could see the excitement on his face. She sat beside him.
“You’re always playing on the computer. You spend more time on this machine than on your homework.”
Today more and more families have computers. Parents hope computers can help their children improve their study at school. But many of their children use computers to play games, listen to songs and watch videos instead of studying. We often see that computer net bars are crowded with people, especially young boys. They spend a lot of money competing(竞争) with the computerized(用计算机控制的) machines. The more they lose, the more they want to win. The result is that they don’t’ want to work or study.
In some countries, even scientists hate computers. They say computers cause millions of people to lose their jobs or cause them a lot of trouble. Computer game addiction(瘾) is a serious problem in social life. Something should have to be done to solve the problem.

We all dream about things that we would like to do we hope to achieve in the future. But are everybody’s dreams the same? Here are some of the findings of a survey about hopes and dreams, in which thousands of students across China took part in it.
What are the hopes of teenagers?
We received several different answers to the question: what would you like to do after finishing your education? It seems some students would like to start work as soon as possible, so that they can help provide better lives for their parents. Other students hope to continue studying after finishing school and to go to university. Although money is important, many teenagers said they want to do jobs they enjoy. According to the survey, the most popular choice of job is computer programming.
What are the dreams of teenagers?
Teenagers have all kinds of dreams. Some are more realistic than others. For example, many students said they would like to be volunteers if Beijing could hold the World Cup, maybe working as translators or tour guides. And quite a few said they dream of going to the moon one day.
According to the survey, less realistic dreams are also common, but many students reported that they were willing to work hard to achieve their dreams. Quite a few dream of becoming famous, perhaps famous sports people or singers. Some said they’d like to go on exciting trips; one students said she’d love to sail across the Pacific Ocean. And then there are dreams that are impossible; three students said they’d like to be able to fly!
Conclusion It was clear from the survey that teenagers have similar hopes. It seems that most students hope to have a good education and find a good job. On the other hand, students dream of very different things: good things, and even crazy things. It is very important to dream, so hold on your dreams; one day they may just come true.

Having Fun “Growing” and “Stealing”

Recently, an Internet game has become a new fashion among young office workers and students. People can “farm” on a piece of  “land” and “grow”, “sell” or even “steal” “vegetables”, “flowers” and “fruits” on the internet.
They can earn some e-money and buy more “seeds”, “pets” and even “houses”.
Joyce interviewed some young people. Here are their opinions.
Harold:I don't quite understand why they are so mad about the childish game, maybe they are just not confident enough to face the real world.
Allan:I enjoy putting some “bugs” (臭虫) in my friends’ gardens and we’ve become closer because of the game. Having fun together is the most exciting thing about it.
Laura:You know, people in the city wish for the life in the countryside. It relaxes my work pressure; besides, it gives me the exciting experience of being a “thief”.

“In my day, we had to walk a mile to school—uphill, both ways.” That may sound like an old joke. Today, only 13 percent of kids walk to school, down from 66 percent 30 years ago.
Studies show that fewer children are walking and biking to school, and more children are at risk of becoming overweight. Changing behaviors of children and parents require creative ways that are safe and fun.
A walking school bus can be both.
It works like a bus, picking up ‘passengers’ along the way at designated(指定的) ‘bus stops’ except everyone is walking!
The Walking School Bus works as a supervised group of children walking to and from school along a safe and enjoyable set route. There are at least two parents in a group. One parent ‘drives’ at the front of the bus, while the other parent supervises at the back. The same of different supervisors go with the children to and from school. Additional(增加的) parents may be needed depending on the walking environment.
The ‘bus’ can go as often as parents want to ‘drive’ it and children want to use it. This means that it can even work as little as one morning or afternoon each week. All children are welcome to join the bus even if their parents cannot be drivers. And the service is free.
Socially, it’s great because the children meet other children, otherwise they would only know by sight.
“My children have formed some good friendships because of the Walking Bus. The parents get to know other parents too!” a parent said. “From our experience of the Walking Bus, it has only been a meaningful thing. It gets all of us walking more and the children do not complain about walking like they used to. ”
Some kids said compared to walking school bus, it’s boring in a car when they were asked why not get into a car.
Besides these, it might have a good effect on heavy traffic.
