Students usually need eight to ten hours’ sleep at night, but many Chinese students don’t have enough sleep. Some Chinese parents are usually happy to see their children studying late. They think their children work hard. But not all parents are happy about this. Once a mother said that her 10-year-old son begged (请求) for one more minute to sleep every morning. Many students have to get up before six in the morning, just like “early birds”.

If students don’t have a good sleep, they may be sleepy(瞌睡)in class and some of them will be weaker (弱点,差的) than they should be. They won’t do well in their classes. Too much homework is not the only reason why students stay up late. Some students watch TV or play computer games late into the night.

Students should have good study habits (习惯). Some clever students never study late, but they can still work well in class.
