A young driver in Tokyo went to an office to insure (保险) his life. The head of the office asked him how old his parents were when they died.
“My mother had a bad heart and died at the age of 30. My father had something wrong with his brain (脑) and died when he was 36.”
“I'm sorry,” said the head very politely. “We cannot insure your life as your parents were not healthy enough. ”
The driver was not pleased and decided to leave. At the gate a kind-hearted man in the office stopped him and told him not to tell the truth (说实话). “No office will insure you if you speak like that. Try to say in another way. ”
So the driver went into another office and spoke to the head. “Well, how old were your parents when they died?” “Mum was 93, and she fell off her bike and died. Dad died while he was playing football at the age of 95.”
“Very well, we can insure your life,” said the head at once with a smile.
