Birds live in trees. Squirrels also live in trees, but did you know that some frogs live in trees, too?

The tree frog is not easy to find. This frog can change its colour. On green leaves, it stays green. On a brown branch, it turns brown. Some tree frogs can change from green to gold or blue.

Tree frogs have legs and wide feet. They have sticky (粘性的) pads (肉掌) on the end of their toes. These sticky toe pads keep them from falling from the trees.

Trees frogs can be all different colours. Their eyes are different colours, too. Some have green eyes, some grey. Some frogs’ eyes are gold, and some are bright red.

The sounds they make in spring and summer are different, too. One frog makes a sound like dog barking. Another frog makes a loud noise like a snore (鼾声). There is even a frog that whistles (口哨)!

A frog (青蛙) sat in a well. A bird flew down and fell on the wall of the well (井).

The frog asked the bird, “Where are you from?”

“I fly in the sky. I have flown over one hundred Li. I feel thirsty (口渴). So I come down for water,” answered the bird.

The frog said, “My friend, don’t talk big. The sky is just as big as the mouth of the well. Won’t you have to fly so far?”

The bird said, “You are wrong. The sky is boundless (无边无际的). It is much bigger indeed.”

The frog laughed and said, “My dear, I sit in the well every day. When I look up, I will see the sky. I won’t be wrong.”

The bird laughed, too, and said, “My good friend, you make a mistake. If you don’t believe me, you jump out of the well and have a look at it.”
