She is a cute ,quiet girl. As a daughter, she has no secrets from her mother, who is very pleased with her. But these days she has become not so open as before. She has diary that she keeps under lock and key. Her mother cannot help(忍不住) worrying about her: what if she falls in love, which is too early for her age. After all, she is reaching the “dangerous time”. These thoughts have caused trouble in the mother’s mind.

One weekend the girl came to tell her mother that she was going to the cinema with her schoolmate and would return late. This was the first time her mother agreed, and she couldn’t help worrying because her daughter had never been away at night before. The mother waited till nine. She decided to go out to meet her daughter. Just at that time the noise of a car pulling up drew her to the window and---there was her daughter, waving goodbye to a boy. Her heart missed a beat. When the girl came in, the mother was watching TV, just like nothing had happened. “Mum, I’m back.” “Yeah.” “Sorry to be late. Still sitting up?” “Yes. Oh, that … Who’s that boy? ” The daughter fell silent for some time. “Ah. It’s my monitor(班长). He gave me a lift on his way home. Mum, I’m going to bed.” “All right. Go to sleep early.”

The next morning when the mother went to the daughter’s room to do some cleaning, she found her diary left on the bed. After a few minutes’ thinking, she at last opened it to the page of the night before. It reads: Mum, It’s love that made you ask, but it would show your understanding of me if you hadn’t.

Hi, everybody! I’m Max, now I’m studying in an international school in Canada. Students here also spend much time on homework. How difficult the homework is depends on (取决于) what subject you are learning.

For English, we usually put together presentations(展示). I will look for some information on the Internet. For example, I’m working on a one-minute presentation about recent Canadian news. I read about lots of news, and I will choose one thing to write about. Doing presentations is a good way to practice speaking skills and build confidence (自信). I still feel shy talking in front of many people. But my English has really become better.

For geography and history, we usually do paper work and make posters. It takes a lot of time. We spent about a month on one article last year. We had to make outlines(提纲) and write out the main ideas. Our teacher fixed them and then we could start to write. For the posters, you can print or draw them. Last week, our teacher asked us to make a poster about our sense of place. So we put two pictures of our favorite places and wrote 10 words to describe them.

Science was very hard for me at first. And it took me an hour to read three pages. But as I learn more and more words, I understand it better. Even if I don’t understand all the words, I can mostly guess what it is saying. So I get faster and faster at doing my homework.

No matter what homework you get, just try your best.
