Historic Canal(运河) Places to Visit
If you want to visit a city with canals, is Venice the only choice you know? Let' s know more about these places.
Amsterdam, Netherlands Beautiful canals probably aren't the first thing that comes to your mind when you are thinking of Amsterdam, but Amsterdam actually has more canals than Venice. The first canals were built in the Middle Ages and Amsterdam has four main canals now. Today, you can see the classic buildings, along any of the canals, In 2009, UNESCO named Amsterdam's central canal ring a World Heritage Site. |
Stockholm, Sweden Water makes up nearly one-third of Sweden′s capital across 14 islands. Stockholm with a name “Beauty on Water”, is connected by a huge canal network and 57 bridges. In winter, when the canals freeze over, locals and tourists visit there for ice-skating, which gives them the feeling like flying. |
Bruges, Belgium Just a short train ride away from Brussels lies Bruges, an old canal town in Belgium. Although it was built in the 13th century, Bruges appears like something out of a fairy-tale: small, cobblestone(鹅卵石) streets, beautiful bridges and neat houses. Bruges′ canals host a festival every four years, which includes performances by musicians and actors, and lights shining throughout the canals. |

Problem solving is an important skill in our lives. While each problem requires a different skill to solve it, there are certainly common problem solving techniques that can be used in many situations. First, it’s important to make sure that you have the right opinions about your problems. In other words, you should see problems as challenges and should try to get some joy out of solving them. It’s our problems that force us to grow, and it’s our problems that make our lives interesting.
Once you view them as challenges, you also need to realize that all problems can be solved or at least improved, if you think about them in the right way. This means you should take the time out of your day or your activities to pay attention to your problems and think about them for as long as it takes to find solutions (解决方法). And in this way, you will at least be able to feel that you’re doing something about them, and once you do come up with a plan, you may feel your problems are much more manageable.
When you do start coming up with your plan, there are some things that can help you. For example, writing down your thoughts can often help a lot. Form a mind map and start writing down related (相关的) things. This way you can visualize (形象化) the idea and you may feel as if you have really achieved something.
At the same time, don’t be afraid to ask others for help. In nine out of ten cases a problem involves (涉及) another person, then the problem can be solved or at least improved by talking to that person. If your problem isn’t urgent (紧急的), you can talk to people who have skills or experience, which can help you find solutions.
Sometimes you can try to imagine what you would advise yourself to do if you were another person. Imagine that someone else has your problem, what would the solution that you would tell them be? Sometimes this can help you see what might be stopping you all along. In many cases we actually know what the solution is, but we are just afraid of admitting (承认) it. This is because the solution involves a big change to our lifestyles, or because we are simply afraid of failure (失败). By taking a step back, you can realize what is stopping you, and then you can get it over and move forward.
