A woman was surprised to find that some mice ran inside her house at night and hid themselves in the day. She thought to herself, "I really want to have a good cat." She knew of a man who sold cats. So she went to see him. "Do you have a cat that's good for the mice?" she asked the man. "Well, yes, I happen to have a cat that's good for the mice," answered the man. "I'll take it," said the woman. She paid for the cat and took it home.

Several days later, her house had more mice.

She went back to ask the man. "Your cat won't catch them. I thought you said he was good for the mice!"

"That's right," said the man. "He is good for the mice. Come to think about it: he's really very good for the mice!"

One day when some government officials(官员) were building a barn(谷仓), they found a mouse hole in a corner and used smoke to make the mice inside the hole come out. A while later they indeed saw mice running out, one after another. Then, everyone thought that all the mice had escaped. But just as they began to clean up, they saw two mice squeezing(挤)out at the mouth of the hole. With some efforts, the mice finally got out. However, it was strange that after they came out of the hole, they didn’t run away immediately. Instead, one chased after the other near the mouth of the hole. It seemed that one was trying to bite the tail of the other.
Everyone was puzzled(困惑), so they stepped near to take a look. They realized that one of the mice was blind and couldn’t see anything, and the other was trying to allow the blind mouse to bite on his tail so that he could pull the blind one with him to escape.
After seeing what happened, everyone was speechless and lost in thought. During the meal time, the group of people sat down in a circle and started to chat about what happened to the two mice.
One serious American official said, “I think the relationship between those mice was that of king and guard(卫兵).” The other thought for a while and said, “That is why!”
A smart Frenchman said, “I think the relationship between those two mice was that of husband and wife.” Again the others thought for a while, and all felt it made sense.
A Japanese said, “I think the relationship between those two mice was that of mother and son.” Once again the others thought for a while, and felt this was more reasonable. So they expressed(表达) agreement another time.
At that moment, one Chinese asked, “Why did those two mice have to have a certain relationship?”
Suddenly, the group looked back at the Chinese and stayed speechless. The American official, the French and the Japanese who had spoken earlier all lowered their heads in shame(羞愧), and did not dare to answer.
In fact, the true love is not built on friendship, loyalty(忠诚) or blood relationship.
Instead, it is based on no relationship.

We know that many animals do not stay in one place. Birds, fish and other animals move from one place  to another at a certain time. They move for different reasons: most of them move to find food more easily, but others move to get away from places that are too crowded.
When cold weather comes, many birds move to warmer places to find food. Some fishes give birth in warm water and move to cold water to feed. The most famous migration(迁移)is probably the migration of the fish which is called “salmon”.This fish is born in fresh water but it travels many miles to salt water. There it spends its life. When it is old,it returns to its birthplace in fresh water. Then it gives birth and dies. In northern Europe, there is a kind of mouse. They leave their mountain homes when they bccome too crowded. They move down to the low land. Sometimes they move all the way the seadide, and many of them are killed when they fall into the sea.
Recently, scientists have studied the migration of kind of lobster(龙虾).Every year, when the season of the bad weather arrives, the lobsters get into a long line and start to walk across the floor of the ocean. Nobody knows why they do this, and nobody know where they go.
So,sometimes we know why humans and animals move from one place to another, but at other times we don’t. Maybe living things just like to travel.
