摘要:43.It can be concluded from the last sentence of the story that . A.They felt it a pity that they didn’t go to the circus B.They felt they would be blessed for their behavior C.They didn’t feel bad though they didn’t go to the circus D.They had never gone to the circus ever since B When six the very best students from different cities in Guandong province all together chose universities in Hong Kong; when the very best student of Beijing picked up HK University while giving up the nearby Peking or Tsinghua University; when the highest enrollment rate of Hong Kong Science and Industry University reached 48:1, it’s the high time to ask where the real education heaven for students in China is. Years ago, the answer certainly would be “Peking or Tsinghua University . But now no one could give the exact reaction without hesitation. The only sure thing is that HK universities have gradually showed an unusual attraction to a great many mainland students. It’s no doubt to call this HK craze, which is even out of the expectation of those HK universities themselves. How can HK universities shake the steady foundations of Peking and Tsinghua and attract so many mainland students? First, Hong Kong universities offer large-amount scholarship, especially for the top students who can receive the sum scholarship as much as 400,000 HK dollars. Since higher education has become a kind of heavy burden of many families, it’s easy to understand why the reaction to the generous offering of HK universities is great. Second, most HK universities receive professors and students from all over the world and carry out bilingualeducation. This kind of excellent language atmosphere is another attraction for mainland students. Further more, university students in Hong Kong have a better chance to study abroad as exchange students. Can mainland top universities like Peking or Tsinghua University calm as before when facing the unexpected competition from HK? Will they take relevant measures to win back the top students who once help them set the worldwide reputation? Time will explain it. The fierce competition brought by HK universities can be a good thing for an entire improvement of education in China. After the awakening and action taking of mainland universities, they can perform better together with HK universities. At least, it reminded the mainland universities the tuition feesare among students’ top concern when they are choosing universities. It’s time to move.

It's certain:for twins, life really does imitate art.My twin brother,Kirk, and I grew up being constantly mistaken for each (处理这个问题) other.Classmates, friends, teachers, even relatives couldn't tell us apart. As a result,we were often unfairly punished or rewarded.

Eventually,we learned how to use the Mistaken Identity Syndrome (MIS) to our advantage. For example,we would play tricks on our friends and classmates, pretending to be the other twin.Nor were teachers immune(不受某事物影响) to our tricks. On at least one occasion, when Kirk was sick,I covered for (替代) him by taking his tests. We also tried our little game out on Mom,but she always knew who was who.Once we grew up,we even covered for each other at work.We didn't mean any harm;we simply started this as an experiment to see whether our bosses and co-workers could tell the difference.

As a bank manager, I meet with dozens of clients(顾客) on a daily basis, while my brother manages a staffing service for local employers. As a result, Kirk is constantly approached by people who want to discuss their various money accounts, while I'm frequently thanked on the street as a department store customer service representative.

However, the MIS took a truly embarrassing turn when Kirk and I found ourselves unable to tell each other apart. Once, my brother and I were traveling in a car with several friends. My brother's hair must always be in place. Kirk was driving when he noticed in the rearview mirror (后视镜) that his hair was a bit messy.

He lifted his right hand to brush his hair back into place and was disturbed when his hand didn't appear in the mirror. Several times he repeated this action. Finally, he started laughing.

According to the first paragraph, we know that         .

    A. few people can tell the author from Kirk

    B. the author was punished more than Kirk

    C. the author was always rewarded though he was wrong

    D. being twins is really a good thing for both twins

According to the passage, the Mistaken Identity Syndrome is         .

    A. a kind of disease difficult to cure

    B. the situation of mistaking identities

    C. the tricks that children like to play

    D. the way to separate two similar things

It can be inferred that when the author covers for his brother at work,         .

    A. he is often successful

    B. he means to harm his boss

    C. his brother is seriously ill

    D. he often behaves strangely

Why did Kirk laugh at last?

    A. He felt embarrassed about his hair.

    B. His brother's hair was really messy.

    C. His brother was doing the same thing.

    D. He became the victim of the MIS.

When you meet someone for the first time, you will form an impression in your mind of that person in the first moment. Your reactions to other people, however, are really just barometers (晴雨表) for how you perceive(理解) yourself. Your reactions to others say more about you than they do about others. You cannot really love or hate something about another unless it reflects something you love or hate yourself. We are usually drawn to those who are most like us and tend to dislike those who display those aspects of ourselves that we dislike.
Therefore, you can allow others to be the mirror to illuminate (阐明;照亮) more clearly your own feelings of self-worth. Conversely, you can view the people you judge negatively as mirrors to show you what you are not accepting about yourself.
To survive together peacefully with others, you will need to learn tolerance. A big challenge is to shift your perspective from judgment of others to a lifelong exploration of yourself. Your task is to assess all the decisions, judgments you make onto others and to begin to view them as clues to how you can heal yourself and become whole.
Several days ago I had a business lunch with a man who displayed objectionable table manners. My first reaction was to judge him as rude and his table manners as annoying. When I noticed that I was judging him, I stopped and asked myself what I was feeling. I discovered that I was embarrassed to be seen with someone who was chewing with his mouth open and loudly blowing his nose. I was astonished to find how much I cared about how the other people in the restaurant perceived me.
Remember that your judgment of someone will not serve as a protective shield against you becoming like him. Just because I judge my lunch partner as rude does not prevent me from ever looking or acting like him. In the same way, extending tolerance to him would not cause me to suddenly begin chewing my food with my mouth open.
When you approach life in this manner, those with whom you have the greatest dissatisfactions as well as those you admire and love can be seen as mirrors, guiding you to discover parts of yourself that you reject and to embrace your greatest quality.
