My wife, daughter, and I moved into our home nine years ago. We called the area in front of our house “rock graden” as it is full of rocks.
Last summer I found a tiny little plant which I could not immediately identify at the end of the rock garden. I knew I didn’t plant it and my wife claimed that she didn’t either. We decided to let it continue growing until we could figure out what it was.
Weeks passed and as I made my way back to the mystery plant, it appeared to be a sunflower. It was spindly with a tall skinny stalk and only one head on it. I decided to take care of it and weed around it. As I pulled rocks from the area to get to the weeds, I notived something unusual. The sunflower had not started where I saw the stalk begin. It actually had begun under a big rock and grown under and around it to reach the sun.

Every activity of our lives is communication of a sort, but it is through speech that man asserts his distinctness from other forms of life. He alone, of all animals, has the gift of verbal communication and it is through the quality of his speech that he best expresses his own individuality , his essence. When he is unable to say clearly what he means, through either nervousness, timidity, or foggy thought-processes, his personality is blocked off, dimmed out, and misunderstood.
Business, social, and personal satisfaction depend heavily upon a person’s ability to communicate clearly to his fellow men what he is, what he desires, and what he believes in. And now, as never before , in an atmosphere of international tensions, fears, and insecurities, we need the channels of communication between peoples kept open. It is exciting to visit different places. As you travel, you will see beautiful sceneries typical of the region. Besides, you can meet and make friends with people of different colors and races. Today people are so fond of traveling that tourism has become one of the developing industries in most countries.
Recent years have seen a tendency in China that tourism is growing faster. According to a recent survey made by some experts, about 47% urban residents travel regularly, and 28% rural residents also make their tour across the country. The survey also shows that more people are interested in tourism, and will join the army in the future.
Facing this tendency, we can't help exploring some underlying factors that are responsible. In the very first place, with the policy of reform and opening up, Chinese people's living standard has greatly been improved, and therefore, most of them can afford to travel around. What's more, it is believed that people now take a more positive attitude to tourism. In addition, tourism facilities are becoming better and better. For example, transportation develops fast, and many scenic spots are available now.
Though there are still some problems with tourism, I personally believe that tourism should be playing a key role in our life. I also hope that our government will make policies to create a better environment for tourists.
