2.26-meter-tall Yao Ming made his NBA debut (初次登台) on October 23, 2002 and got 6 points for the Houston Rockets in the game. The next day, he got 13 points (得分)in another game.
Most people think that Yao Ming is a born basketball player. But Yao said, “When you watch it on TV, it looks very easy. But when you are playing in the NBA, it is really not so easy.” He said that joining the Houston Rockets was a new start and a new challenge. “I hope that through very hard work I can make everyone happy and help the Rockets win more games,” he said.
Yao Ming speaks some English. Both he and his teammates can understand each other. They don't think there is a language problem. While Yao Ming faces this new challenge（挑战）, the people of Houston have shown great interest in him and they hope Yao Ming will bring new energy (活力) to the Rockets. After a day’s hard work I went to bed early than usual. It was about two o’clock in the morning when I was awakened by a big noise. I got out of the beds and slowly went  upstairs. There was a light in the living room. I listened to carefully and heard two men speak quietly. I believed my house had broken into and I was really frightening.  I went back upstairs and immediately call the police. You can imagine how embarrassed I was when they came upstairs but told me they had turned the television off for me and something was all right.

Almost every student knows the tallest boy named John in our school. He is 1.94 meters tall and good at play basketball. He and I am in the same class. Though I’m much more shorter than him, he just sits beside me. I think he is not only tall, but very strongly. On the first day of this term, we have so many books to carry that we all felt very tired besides John, who carried a great many books without taking a rest. When finished this hard work I was almost out of breathe, but he was reading an interesting book. He never looks down upon those that are short and is always ready to help others.
