Dear Degree-doing International Students,

According to the University’s regulations governing the Curriculums (课程) of General Education, the curriculum-choosing procedures (程序) are as follows:

Who

All degree-doing international students are required to choose the curriculums related to Chinese Language and Culture. Refer to Item 3 for different arrangements for undergraduate students (本科生) ,master and doctor students.

What curriculum to choose

You are required to choose two curriculums related to Chinese Language and Culture that suit your own level and program. The curriculum consists of Elementary Chinese, Intermediate （中级的）Chinese, and Chinese Culture (Taught in Chinese and English ). Please refer to Attachment 1 for details.

How many credits

You are required to complete 6 credits for each curriculum within a term.

When and How

A. Undergraduate students: you are required to complete the curriculum selection process (The system will be reopened next week) by 5:00 p.m. on June 22, 2013. About how to choose the courses, you can refer to Attachment 2 (It is in Chinese; turn to your Chinese friends or teachers for help if you cannot follow the procedures of the attachment) for the instructions.

B. Master and Doctor Students: you won’t have to complete the curriculum selection until early September; please wait for further notice on the arrangement.

MEAL TIMES

Our overnight charge includes a continental-type breakfast.

Breakfast: 7:30—9:30 a. m.

Lunch: 12:00—2:00 p. m.

Afternoon tea: 4:00—5:30 p. m.

Dinner: 7:00—9:15 p. m.

Meals can be served in rooms at a small extra charge. We regret that meals can not be served outside these times.

Light refreshments(茶点) including tea, coffee, biscuits and sandwiches can be served in rooms between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. except during the meal times listed above. Cold drinks are available in the room refrigerator.

ROOM CLEANING

Please hang the sign on your door handle if you do not wish to be disturbed. It will be easier for the maids if you can leave the room temporarily(暂时地) at any time between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

VALUABLES

We are not responsible for the loss of money, jewels, or other valuables unless they are kept in the safe and signed for by the manager.

DEPARTURES

Please inform receptionists(接待员) of your intended leaving before 9:30 a. m. of the day concerned and leave the room by noon to allow for its preparation for incoming guests. If necessary, luggage can be left in the charge of the hall porter(搬运工人)。

A SPECIAL REQUEST

We would respectfully suggest that in consideration of the comfort of other guests, the volume of radios and televisions should be turned down after 11:00 p. m. .

Welcome to Franklin Hotel. To make you stay as enjoyable as possible, we hope you will use our facilities(设施) to the full.

Dining Room: Breakfast is served in the dining room from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Also the room staff(服务员)may bring breakfast to your room at any time after 7 a.m. If this happens, please fill out a card and hang outside your door when you go to bed. Lunch is from 12 to 2:30 p. m. Dinner is from 7:30 to 9 p. m.

Room Service: This operates 24 hours a day; phone the Reception desk(总台), and your message will be passed on to the staff.

Telephones: To make a phone call, dial(拨) 0 for Reception and ask to be connected. We apologized for delays(拖延) if the lines are very busy. There are also public telephones near the Reception desk. Tell Reception if early calls are needed.

Shop: The hotel shop is open for presents, gifts and goods from 9 a. m. to 5:30 p. m.

Laundry : We have a laundry in the building, and will wash, iron(烫) and return your clothes within 24 hours, ask the room staff to collect them.

Bar(酒吧): The hotel bar is open from 12 to 2 p. m. and 7 p. m. to 1 a. m.

Banking : The Reception staff will cash cheques and exchange(兑换) any foreign money for you.

Mr. Flower was well-known around for growing the best flowers of the year and his four glass-houses were taken good care of.
