　　One morning when we had been riding for five hours, we came to a bridge where the railway cross a pond(池塘). For 30 feet there was nothing but the widely-spaced wooden sleepers(枕木) under our wheels, and nothing to stop us falling into the steaming pond below if we overbalanced.
