Kitty is writing to Ricky about a mini-concert she is organizing at school. Read the e-mail.
Dear Ricky
Thank you for your help. Our charity show was really a big success. Because of this success, our school decided to organize another event this June. I felt very glad that the Grade 8 students chose me as their representative.
We have decided to organize a mini-concert, which aims to raise money for a charity. There are many things to do before the show. We have to decide the fees for the tickets and to collect donations from people who come to the concert. I am responsible for doing several duties. The representatives from the upper grades do more things. I have to design and give out leaflets to people and ask for their support. We hope that they will give some donations for our show. I also have to call the flower shop to send in flowers and arrange them in the theatre.
We have a singing group in each grade and they will sing the most popular songs in our mini-concert. The host of the show is the captain of out school football team. Everyone has shown a lot of support for our show. I am sure the show will be a big success.
The mini-concert is so meaningful. It is also fun. I hope you can come that night. I can buy a ticket for you. I hope to hear from you soon.
Love
Kitty
Kitty told Amy about the mini-concert. Amy is telling Shirley about it but she forgets some of the details. Write a T if the sentence is true. Write an F if it is false.

查看习题详情和答案>>In many big cities there are people who cannot get work. Sometimes they do not want to work, but sometimes there isn't any work for them to do.
Some of these people beg for money. Some of them sell boxes of matches or cheap pens, and some or them sell flowers.
Andrew never gave money to beggars. "People should work for their money," he believed. He also believed there was work for everyone, which was however not true.
One day when he was waiting for a bus, he met a beggar who was an old woman wearing very old and dirty clothes. She had no shoes and she was selling some flowers.
"Give an old woman ten dollars, mister," she said to Andrew. "I haven't had a meal for three days."
"I'm not giving you ten dollars," Andrew said.
"What about five dollars, then, mister?" the poor old woman asked. "That'll buy me a couple of pieces of bread."
"No," Andrew said.
"Then what about one dollar?" the old woman asked. "I can buy an orange."
"I haven't got one dollar," Andrew said. "Now go away."
The old woman looked at him sadly, and then gave him her flowers.
"Here, mister," she said. "You have these. You need them more than I do."

Things grow in Mr. White’s garden the whole year. He cuts some flowers for his sitting room table, and, of course he eats some fruits and vegetables. He sells everything else in the market.
He knows a few other gardeners, but he does not have any friends. People do not understand him. And they know little about his garden. It’s a wonderful garden. Mr. White plants things in spring. After that he does very little work. He sits in the garden with his small radio. And everything grows all year round.
People asks, “How does Mr. White grow those wonderful things? He waters the plants sometimes, but he doesn’t do anything else. He just sits under an orange tree with his radio. He listens to the music nearly all day!” And that is quite true. People can not understand it, and so they don’t like it very much.
Mr. White likes music. But what about the garden? Who does the work? Let me tell you: the music does the work. All plants like music, and Mr. White knows that.
Do you want big vegetables and the loveliest flowers? Well, just give your plants a lot of music.
