I am Lynn．My previous job was as principal of a language school, where I received awards for training teachers to teach more effectively．A year ago, I started an international company．I spent months conducting programs in the US and Russia．During this time, some Russian immigrants came to stay at my house．Fortunately, these visitors helped a lot at home and made life easier．At the same time, I wrote several books to be published by my company and coedited a book for a major publisher．
I am grateful I have a photographic memory, so I can remember everything I see．Otherwise, I might not be that productive．In addition to my work, I have a family at home．Some of my children have had serious health problems from birth, but I try to handle those problems well and efficiently．With tremendous help from my parents, the kids are fed, and clothed, and educated．

Questions 14 through 16 are based on the following passage．
Job interviews can generally be divided into three types．
The first is what I would call the traditional interview．This is usually just a series of standard questions about qualifications, work experience and expectations．So what you have here is basically a list of quite direct questions, like what duties did you have in your previous job．This is still the model for a lot of interviews today．In my view it's not the best to select staff．
Then there is the case interview．Here the interviewer presents a problem and a series of questions to find out how the candidate would approach the problem．It might go something like this, ‘A company wants to hire more graduates without spending more than its current budget．What would you advise them to do? ’This can be particularly challenging, for you need to analyze the problem and solve it．
The third type is known as the behavioral interview．The questions are usually designed to find out about how the candidates handle tricky situations in the past．A typical question might be ‘Can you give me an example of a situation where you had to follow orders that you didn't agree with? ’ This opens up a lot of information and the interviewer gets to see more of the candidate．

Some American parents might think their children need better education to compete with those in China and other countries. But how much do the parents themselves need to change?
A new book called Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua has caused a debate about cultural differences in parenting. In Chinese culture, the tiger represents strength and power. In the book, Ms. Chua writes about how she demanded excellence from her daughters. She said that she had a clear list of what her daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were not permitted to do, such as attending a sleepover, having a play date, watching TV or playing computer games and getting any grade less than an A.
Many people have criticized Amy Chua. Some say her parenting methods were abusive(辱骂的). She even a
dmits that her husband, who is not Chinese, sometimes objected to her parenting style. But she says that it was the way her parents raised her and her three sisters.
Ms. Chua makes fun of her own extreme style of parenting. She says she eased
some of the pressure after her younger daughter rebelled and shouted, “I hate my life! I hate you!”
Ms. Chua says she decided to retreat when it seemed like there was a risk that she might lose her daughters. But she also says American parents often have low expectations of their children’s abilities. “One of the biggest differences I see between Western and Chinese parents is that Chinese parents assume strength rather than fragility(脆弱),” she said.
“The beginning of this intense discussion has to do with what it means to be a successful parent and what it means to be a successful child,” said Stacy Debroff, who has written four books about parenting.
Ms. Debroff says Amy Chua’s parenting style is not limited to Chinese families. She says it represents a traditional way of parenting among immigrants(移民) seeking a better future for their children.
But she also sees a risk. When children have no time to be social or to follow their own interests, they might not develop other skills that they need to succeed in life. Stacey Debroff advises parents to develop their own styles of parenting and not just repeat the way they were raised.

When I was younger it seemed that the super hero was Batman or Spiderman. As I grew up, I looked to real people with some of these qualities to be my super hero including being strong, honest, friendly, brave, skilled, hardworking, and reliable. The person I think of when I hear these words is my dad.
My dad is one of the toughest people I have ever met. He has been through it all. When I was five, 60 percent of his body was burned. In 1999 he fell from a tree, breaking his arm and shattering his ankle. In 2004, he had a liver transplant (移植) after being on the list for six years after a bad blood transfusion that gave him Hepatitis C. Now, my dad is 45 years old and feels better than he has in 15 years.
My dad is one of the most reliable people I know. Anything I ask of him, he does. Whenever he tells me he is going to do something, it is always done before I get home from work. Whenever I need my dad, he is there. When I was ten and he told me my grandmother was going to die, I felt really down. He was the one there trying to cheer me up.
My dad has worked hard for everything he has. At home, he is always busy doing projects and has painted every room in our house. After our shop was built, he constructed an office you would think a professional built. When I do something stupid, he helps me fix it. Of course, he does his complaining, but I know he likes fixing things just as much as I like tearing them up.
My dad has been one of the greatest parts of my life. I have learned a lot from watching him and I don’t believe I will ever meet anyone like him. I hope when I grow up, I can possess the same qualities as my dad, and have someone look up to me as a good role model. This is why my dad is my hero.
