The Fox and the Tiger

Once a fox met a tiger(虎). The tiger opened his mouth, full of sharp(锋利的)long teeth, and said to the fox.

“Why are you walking in my forest? What are you doing here? I shall have you for my breakfast.

But the fox answered:My dear sir, you must not think that you are the king of the animals. Of course, you are very strong and your teeth are very sharp. But you are not so brave as I am. Let us walk together and see whom the people are afraid of. I shall go in front of you and you will keep behind me. The people will see me and run away because they are afraid of me. If what I say is not true, you can eat me.

The tiger agreed and so the fox and the tiger walked together to the nearest village. The fox walked in front of the tiger.

When the people saw the tiger who was going behind the fox they ran away, because they were afraid of the tiger.

Then the fox said, I was in front of you and you kept behind me. The people saw me but they did not see you. They ran away because they were afraid of me. I am the king of the animals. I shall have you for my breakfast.

The tiger looked at the fox and ran away.
