第二节 读写任务
阅读下面的短文,然后按要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
On a cold November afternoon, my mother and I were walking home from a pizza store. I was feeling a little tired as I was carrying our shopping bags of snacks. They were so heavy that I decided to throw away some things. So I started to walk to the garbage can while I noticed that a poor man was holding a paper bag with his dirty hand. He headed over to another nearby garbage can and started looking for something.
I suddenly felt very guilty because I was going to throw away a new drink just because it was heavy. I walked up to him and handed the drink and some snacks over to him. The man looked up in surprise and took what I gave him.
With a big smile on his face he said, “Wow! You are the first person to give me some sandwiches and drink, and some tasty food. This is my son’s lucky day.”
With that, he thanked me happily. There was a warm feeling inside me and I knew I had done something good. I now understand what the real meaning of “Giving is getting” is.

The author was going to throw some of the food just because it was heavy. At that moment, he saw a poor man looking into a rubbish bin for something to eat. The author gave the food to him and was rewarded with a big smile.
The story implies that to give is to get. In other words, if you give something to those in need, you will get from them something in return. It is not necessarily something you can fell with your hands; it is something you can feel with your heart. This kind of heart-to-heart care is of greater value.
Many people in the current world do not show a tiny bit if care to others. Thankfully, we still see people around us who offer care to those who need care and assistance. An example in point is Cong Fei in Shenzhen. When he was alive, he offered help to over one hundred children from poor families. And because of this he was in big debt. When found infected with cancer, he could not afford for an operation. When people heard of this, thousands and thousands of people showed great concern and lent a hand. His care and love for others were rewarded.
