In recent years Chinese animation films and series are trying to break new ground.Yet compared to foreign counterparts,Chinese animation still has a long way to go.Here are four new popular series made in China.
Lingjian Mountain
Animation series Lingjian Mountain was adapted from an online Chinese novel of the same name.The series tell the story of a boy named Wang Lu and his adventures on his way to be a powerful prince.Bearing a strong resemblance to Japanese animation,the series was adapted by two companies from China and Japan and was also broadcast in both countries.The animation series got 7.1 points out of 10 on Douban, one of China's most popular movie review sites.
Year Hare Affair
The series was adapted from namesake comic series by cartoonist Lin Chao.The author tells the contemporary Chinese history through a group of cute rabbits in uniforms who symbolize the People's Liberation Army,and images of other animals.Sometimes,these animals would talk with a dialect that sounds funnier than simply using Mandarin.The series got 8.5 points out of 10 on Douban.

This is another touching series about a seven-year old monk Yichan,and his master Adou's daily lives.Premiered in 2016,the series had its episode 35 broadcast recently.Each episode focuses on a certain topic,including family,romance and friendship.Despite telling stories from the perspective of a child,the series targets adults and aims to provide some"chicken soup"to let audiences learn to be tolerant and give more love to others.The animation got 9.5 points out of 10on Douban.
Hua Jiang Hu
Premiered in 2014,the series has had four seasons.The story is based on Chinese history during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-960),when there were continuous wars and fights among many small kingdoms.The series got an average of 7.9 points out of 10on Douban.To those who fancy historical stories,the animation provides another way to learn Chinese history.Yet the series doesn't pay too much attention to historical details.

14.Science has a lot of uses.It can uncover laws of nature, cure diseases, make bombs, and help bridges to stand up.Indeed science is so good at what it does that there's always a temptation (诱惑) to drag it into problems where it may not be helpful.David Brooks, author of The Social Animal:The Hidden Sources of Love,Character, and Achievement, appears to be the latest in a long line of writers who have failed to resist the temptation.
Brooks gained fame for several books. His latest book The Social Animal, however,is more ambitious and serious than his earlier books. It is an attempt to deal with a set of weighty topics. The book focuses on big questions:What has science revealed about human nature? What are the sources of character? And why are some people happy and successful while others aren't?
To answer these questions,Brooks surveys a wide range of disciplines.Considering this, you might expect the book to be a dry recitation (背诵)of facts. But Brooks has structured his book in an unorthodox (非常规的),and perhaps unfortunate way.Instead of introducing scientific theories,he tells a story, within which he tries to make his points, perhaps in order to keep the reader's attention. So as Harold and Erica, the hero and heroine in his story, live through childhood,we hear about the science of child development and as they begin to date we hear about the theory of sexual attraction.Brooks carries this through to the death of one of his characters.
On the whole,Brooks'story is acceptable if uninspired. As one would expect, his writing is mostly clear and,to be fair, some chapters stand out above the rest.I enjoyed, for instance, the chapter in which Harold discovers how to think on his own. While Harold and Erica are certainly not strong or memorable characters, the more serious problems with The Social Animal lie elsewhere. These problems partly involve Brooks'attempt to translate his tale into science.

56.What is the main idea of Paragraph 2?(No more than 10 words)The purpose of writing The Social Animal./The main topics of the book.
57.Why does Brooks use a story to introduce scientific theories?(No more than 15 words)Because he tries to make his points through the story or keep reader's attention.
58.According to The Social Animal, how can we learn about the science of child development?(No more than 10 words)As Harold and Erica live through their childhood.
59.Please explain the underlined word"weighty"in English.(No more than 1 word)Serious.Or:Important.Or:Significant.Or:Great.Or:Big.Or:Crucial.Or:Heavy….
60.Do you like Brooks'way of dealing with science in The Social Animal? Why?(No more than 20 words)Yes,I do.Because he introduces scientific theories through a story, which is much easier for people to understand..

Marco Polo

Marco Polo was born in Italy in 1254. A traveller and businessman, he was one of the first Europeans to travel across Asia and into China. His journey lasted 24 years.

He set out, aged 17, with his father Nicolo and his uncle Maffeo on their great journey to China. They sailed south from Venice, Italy and stopped off in the Middle East. They ofen carried on overland to Persia (now Iran), through the Pamir Mountains and the Gobi Desert before they got to Beijing, China. At that time, China was more advanced than Europe. They already had paper, so large numbers of books were available. They also used paper money in many parts of the country.

After he got back to Italy, Marco Polo talked about his experiences in China, and he wrote a book describing the riches of Asia. His book was the first western record of porcelain(瓷器), coal, gunpowder, printing and silk.Unfortunately, not many people believed Polo’s stories and he became known as “the man of a million lies”. He died in 1324.
