题目内容

16.Architecture and urban design are struggling for a green fever dream:Everywhere you look there are plans for sustainable(可持续发展)buildings and eco-cities.
This year,the dreamers'goal is even bigger:"eco-cities"going beyond the last century's development patterns and delivering us to a low-carbon,green future in stylish comfort. In part, the dream reflects a push for energy efficiency, recycled materials and lower carbon emissions(排放).The dream also includes an effort to turn buildings green by covering them in plants.Green roofs appear on Wal-Marts,and green walls appear on hotels,banks,museums-even at the mall.
All of this is surely a good idea,at some level. But today's green urban dream is too often about bringing a technologically controlled version of nature into the city and declaring the problem solved, rather than looking at the deeper causes of our current environmental and urban discontents.
Today's signature eco-building,Apple's"spaceship"campus now under construction in Silicon Valley,is a good example of the shortcomings of the green dream.Though said to be sustainable and energy efficient,it is by any measure a complex, massively resource-intensive(密集的)and expensive building,achievable only by one of the richest corporations on Earth.
Projects like this are really the fulfillment of a set of blue-sky dreams.In the end,those dreams are about leaving Earth itself behind for an engineered habitat,in the sky or at
least on the roof.
Instead of making"nature"into a feature of eco-cities,architects and planners must work to design better relationships between our cities and nature, and to promote just relationships between the people in them. This year's Pritzker Prize winner, the Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena,is a case in point. He is less interested in making technologically impressive buildings than in co-operating with residents themselves to design low-cost,efficient housing solutions for the urban working class,especially in the wake of natural disasters. It is a more productive path forward than growing plants on tall buildings.

32.What's the dreamers'goal this year?C
A.To build sustainable and bigger eco-cities.
B.To change the former development patterns.
C.To create a green future in fashionable ways.
D.To provide people with low-carbon action plans.
33.What can we know about Apple's"spaceship"campus?C
A.It's an eco-building with signatures.
B.Its construction has been completed.
C.It consumes lots of money and resources.
D.It's the best example of the urban green dream.
34.What's the tone of the text?B
A.Humorous.
B.Serious.
C.Optimistic.
D.Depressing.
35.Which statement may Alejandro Aravena agree with?B
A.Disaster-proof buildings are worth any cost.
B.Architects should create user-friendly buildings.
C.Growing plants on tall buildings is really practical.
D.A technologically controlled version of nature is a must.

33.C.推理判断题.根据文章第四段"Though said to be sustainable and energy efficient,it is by any measure a complex, massively resource-intensive(密集的)and expensive building"可知苹果的"太空船"消耗大量的资金和资源;故选C.
34.B.推理判断题.通读全文,可知文章主要讲了可持续发展问题,并举例当今科技虽然发达但消耗大量资源和资金,急需改变,因此整篇文章语调严肃专业;故选B.
35.B.细节理解题.根据文章最后一段"architects and planners must work to design better relationships between our cities and nature, and to promote just relationships between the people in them"可知Alejandro Aravena同意建筑师应该创造人性化的建筑;故选B.

11.I can well remember the pain.My stomach was sick,my heart hurt,and my eyes painful from holding hack tears.
"You know,Annie,"my friend John said,"Joanna and Andrea were just talking about You."I immediately got nervous."They said that the only reason you start on the basketball team is because the coach likes you.It's not because you're good."I thought I might be sick."They said they're tired of you always getting what you want."
I struggled to keep myself from crying,sinking to my knees on the cold floor.After John told me everything my supposed best friends said about me,I was hurt.
Joanna and Andrea came in from lunch break acting as if nothing had happened.Joanna was still my deskmate,and Andrea was still my partner for our history project.I was amazed at their ability to pretend we had perfect friendship,especially since they'd said such hurtful things.
I was a freshman in high school,and I felt like I didn't have a friend in the world,all because of a gossip.
The tongue can be our worst enemy.Gossips harm confidence and separate close friends.They are like sharp knives,cutting one's self-respect into pieces.When we say unkind things about others,we're sticking knives into their hearts.
So how was I to act next?When Joanna and Andrea pretended our friendship hadn't changed,I thought of attacking them back.But instead,I told them directly that they had hurt me.Joanna started crying and Andrea was speechless.I knew they were both sorry for what they had said.They apologized,and I forgave them.Sure,things were a little uncomfortable at first,but soon enough everything was back to the way it had been before.
I still deal with gossip,sometimes as a receiver and sometimes as a sharer.But the more I learn about love,the more I realize the importance of encouraging others-something gossip never does.
