20.Jack was born without eyes.He was very lucky as he grew up having other kittens(young cats) to socialize(交往)with,and was used to people from the moment he was born.However,when it came time to find the kittens homes,no one knew where Jack would end up.
That's when I got an e-mail from my friend.All she asked was"Do you still want one of the kittens?There's one here with no eyes and no one would like to take him."Without thinking I told her that I did want the kitten.
When we first brought him home,Jack stayed mostly in my room.After about a day he had no issues running around and climbing on everything.At times he gets lost in the house,he'll stop.But we just call his name and talk to him and it isn't long before he finds his way back to us.
A few weeks after getting Jack,we got a new-born cat named Bear.Jack and Bear have become best friends.It doesn't matter that he can't see.He always knows when Bear is around.He'll run across the yard straight to Bear and wrap his front legs around his neck in a big hug.They run after each other around and wrestle(摔跤).They'll lie down in the grass together when tired.
Jack is truly an inspiration.I've owned lots of kittens in my life,but Jack is the happiest and most playful.He doesn't feel sorry for himself.He doesn't need pity.I think Jean,the owner of Gumbo,another eyeless cat,said it best when she told me that cats don't have disabilities,they have adaptabilities.
24.Why did Jack come to our home?B
A.I cared for an eyeless cat.
B.I didn't mind whether he was blind.
C.No other young cats kept him company.
D.My friend begged me to take him home.
25.Which of the following statements is TRUE?C
A.Jack often wrestles with Bear indoors.
B.Jack likes to play with a new eyeless cat.
C.Jack quickly adapts to the new environment.
D.Jack is good at talking and playing with people.
26.What does the underlined word"issue"in Paragraph 3mean?A
A.Trouble
B.Fun

D.Business.

分析 本文写了盲人Jack与他的盲猫的故事.

解答 24.B 细节理解题.根据题干信息,答案锁定在第二段.当朋友问我还想要只猫吗?有只猫没有眼睛,没人想要. Without thinking I told her that I did want the kitten.

15.Instagram is a fast, beautiful and fun way to share your life with friends and family.Take a picture or video, choose a filter to transform its look and feel and then post to Instagram-it's that easy. You can even share to Facebook,Twitter and more. It's a new way to see the world. So many photos of food are contained on Instagram-now a pop-up diner in London is taking advantage of this new trend by letting people settle the bill for their meals simply by uploading photos of their dishes to social networks.
I always thought people's taking pictures of their food was kind of silly, but at this new pop-up restaurant in the UK,I'd probably do it too."The Picture House"is the world's first pay-by-photo restaurant. You order, click a photo of the food, share on Instagram and eat for free!
The restaurant belongs to frozen food giant Birds Eye,who came up with the idea to cash in on people's addiction with photographing food and sharing the pictures online. They conducted a survey and found out that more than half of the British population regularly took pictures of their meals. So they realized it was a better way to advertise their new dining range.
The pop-up diner was open in Soho,London for three days in May,and is now moving to other major UK cities. They serve two-course meals that customers don't have to pay for,if they photo and Instagram it.
The restaurant is a part of Birds Eye's"Food for Life"campaign,a new marketing project that aims at changing the way people look at frozen food."Taking photos of food enables people to show off and to share their mealtime moments-from the everyday to the special,"said marketing director Margaret Jobling.
The reaction to the Picture House has been great so far.And the pay-by-picture concept has proven to be an effective way.Alternative payment methods are actually gaining popularity among a lot of businesses.Last year in a cafe in Germany customers pay by how much time they spend there, not by what they eat.
