My name is Jenny. Last week I became a tourist (游客) guide for a day. Two friends, Mr. and Mrs. Moore arrived for a short holiday from Australia. It was their first visit to this part of the world. As my parents had to attend a cousin's wedding (堂兄的婚礼) , they asked me to take our two visitors around Singapore.
Early in the morning I took them round the island in a taxi. They enjoyed the trip down Nicoll Drive to Changi Beach. Later in the morning was stopped at the Tiger Balm Gardens, or Haw Par Villa as it is commonly called. They found the Gardens very interesting. I told them the history of the place and the Chinese legends (传奇) behind the figures of stone. The sun was hot and we soon became very thirsty. I introduced our Australian friends to fresh coconut (新鲜椰子) water. They were delighted (高兴) .
For lunch we went back to the city. We had “tim-sum” at the Neptune Theatre Restaurant. They liked the food and said that it was the biggest restaurant they had seen. In the afternoon we paid a short visit to the National Museum. Both Mr. and Mrs. Moore were interested to find out more about Singapore and its history. They bought some books on Singapore to bring back with them. From the museum I took them to the Van Kleef Aquarium. Some of the sea creatures(生物) frightened Mrs. Moore a little although they were safely contained in tanks (桶) . After that our two visitors went back to their hotel to rest.
By the time I reached home, I was quite exhausted (疲倦).
That evening my parents took the Moores to a wedding dinner. They told my parents what a good tourist guide I had been.
