In a faraway country, there were two carpenters (ľ½³) who were both so good at their job that no one could tell who was better.

One day, the country's king thought of a way to figure out which one was better. He would have them compete against each other in a contest. The winner would become the official royal£¨»Ê¼ÒµÄ£©carpenter.

The king sent for the two carpenters and the contest began. The carpenters were given three days to carve (µñ¿Ì) a wooden mouse. Whoever carved the most lifelike mouse would be the winner.

The first carpenter carved a fine mouse with vivid (Éú¶¯µÄ) and lifelike feature. The second carpenter's mouse, however, looked quite rough. In fact, it hardly even looked like a mouse at all.

The king and his ministers (´ó³¼) agreed that the first carpenter was the winner.

The second carpenter said, "This judgment is unfair. We should ask a cat which mouse looks the most realistic. Cats can recognize mice much better than humans, after all."

The king thought this was a good idea. He ordered his ministers to catch several cats and bring them to judge (ÆÀÅÐ) the carpenters' mice. Surprisingly, all of the cats were more attracted to the second carpenter's mouse.

The king asked the second carpenter, "How did you make the cats believe that your mouse looked more real?" The carpenter said, "Your Majesty, if you look closely, you can see that I carved a mouse holding a fishbone! The cats care not about how real it looks, but how delicious it might taste."

There are a lot of interesting things living in the sea. There are many types of fish and many other animals. There are also many types of plants. There are even some animals which have a lot in common with you. They are mammals living in the sea. How much do you know about creatures that live in the sea? Do you want to know more about the food chain£¨Á´£©in the sea?

In the sea, all sea creatures get food from other sea creatures. At the first link of the food chain are the sea plants and plankton (¸¡ÓÎÉúÎï). Plants are found only in the sunlight zone where there is enough light for them, however, animals are found at all depths of the oceans though their numbers are greater near the surface where food is enough. Many kinds of fish and animals, such as the snail, shrimp, jellyfish, and sea star eat the plankton. The small animals and fish that eat plankton then become food for larger fish, such as the tuna and mackerel. These fish are then eaten by larger fish and animals, such as the shark and dolphin. The shark and dolphin are at the top of the food chain in the sea. Sharks are very dangerous so many people are eaten by them in the sea. But why the number of the shark is becoming smaller and smaller? And who eats the shark? Check out the menu at a seafood restaurant next time you are eating there. Don't be surprised if you find shark on the menu.
